An iPad App was just released by Cablevision System which allows the tablet to be used at home rather than just using their television to view prgrams carried by the cable TV distributor.

At this moment, Time Warner Cable are wrestling with programmers luke Discovery and Viacom over the distribution of their content on Apple’s tablet, free of charge.

But Cable says its offering sidesteps the Net and instead uses the company’s proprietary Advanced Digital Cable network.

Cablevision said in a press release that it “has the right to distribute programming over its cable system to iPads configured in this way under its existing distribution agreements with programming providers” and that “customers do not need to have Internet access to use the Optimum App for iPad”.

Deals are being struck up with companies such as Netflix for lincensing income options.

no need for internet access? that’s pretty cool.. and it’s more convenient to watch on there for people that always uses their ipad..
