It was reported that Apple stores location data in its iPhones indefinitely and will be coming out an iSpy application. CEO Steve Jobs talks about this recent development and says that Apple values its users’ privacy.
Jobs had this to say about the privacy issue:
We take privacy extremely seriously. As an example we worry a lot about locations in phones. We worry that some 14 year old is gonna get stalked or something terrible is going to happen because of our phone…Privacy means people know what they’re signing up for. In plain English. And repeatedly. That’s what it means. I’m an optimist. I believe people are smart, I think some people want to share more data than other people do. Ask them. Ask them every time.
So then, why an iSpy app? If Apple so values its users’ privacy, then why store location data? Makes little sense to me.

He doesn’t clear up the privacy issue for me. I’m with you Emily on this one. It doesn’t make sense that Apple will launch an iSpy app. The stored location data makes me want to get an iPhone less and less. Too bad. Thanks for sharing!
