Last year, approximately 12 million to 15 million people from around the world applied for a green card. However, only 50,000 to 55,000 people receive green card visas. Any immigrant who receives a green card may live and work legally in the US or one of its territories. About 22,000 people were chosen this year and those people’s hopes must be crushed to find out that it was all just a computer error.
