In its own official entry, the words “retweet,” “sexting,” and “cyberbullying” have made it into the latest update for the Concise Oxford English Dictionary.

Retweet
verb: (on the social networking service Twitter) repost or forward (a message posted by another user)

Sexting
noun: the sending of sexually explicit photographs or messages via mobile phone

Cyberbullying
noun: the use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an intimidating or threatening nature.

Sitting in its 12th Edition, the Concise Oxford English Dictionary has added 400 new words this time around for a total of 240,000 entries.

The choice to add in Internet slang and terminology is a part of the Oxford University Press to show its commitment of “setting out new meanings for words.”

Pretty cool to see something as standard as a dictionary be influenced by something in modern culture enough that it is able to get its own official entry, especially considering most of these words didn’t even exist 5 years ago.
