After much controversy, the Opera Mini mobile web browser has been approved and will be released on the App Store. In the past, apps have been rejected for sharing the same functionality as Apple-built apps.
In this case, Opera Mini is a direct competitor to Safari, the default web browser on the iPhone. Many users thought that it would never be approved but 19 days after it was submitted, it was finally authorised. More »

From Flauntme: I could open this post with something cute like, “Ever wanted to see what you’d look like with a smaller nose? There’s an app for that!”, but I won’t because there is nothing cute about this iPhone application. In fact, it sort of borders on insanity. iSurgeon allows you to take photos of yourself, family and friends and then alter your image to see what you’d look like with plastic surgery! Nice!
You can choose from four procedures: tummy tuck, nose job, breast augmentation or gluteal augmentation (aka butt lift). Take a look at the video demonstration (and hear the disgustingly realistic sound effects) of the application after the cut. More »

From Ningin: The PC vs. Mac issue has been a pretty popular topic in the tech world as of late and let me tell you, it has affected everyone–not just the middle aged dude and Justin Long anymore. The contenders in the argument between PC users and Mac users have gotten younger and younger and finally, it’s gotten to the point where 4 year old Asian girls are throwing the gloves off and engaging in bare-knuckle fisticuffs as well. Well, maybe not quite but still, the fight is getting more intense. More »

Just because I’ve been absent from posts for a short period of time, it doesn’t mean that I’ve stopped thinking about my favorite pastime anymore than I did before I jumped off for a bit of a break. I’ve spent days sitting on this crazy topic, and after a pretty interesting article that ran this morning over on CNN, I figured it was time to share this crazy tidbit of information with all of you.
“BCI“, or “Brain-Computer Interfaces“, is the name of this wondrous innovation that is steadily bobbing its way out into the mainstream, and not just because of the potential this technology has for the handicapped, but for society in general. More »

From Girlybubble: Technology hasn’t always been chic. I remember the dark days when it was more function over form. Aesthetically, fashionable consumers had limited choices. However, those days are over, and this year has brought us technology that is not only functional, but cute and colorful as well. Here’s my list of Top 10 Girl Gadgets of 2009. More »

From Wirebot: In coming days we shall see a new evil creeping over thou horizon. Dastardly minions of rival city-state, Ningin, will challenge our greatest military minds to a courageous duel of wit and prowess. The name of thou gameth? Flash games. We shall hone our skills for the days of Thursday, December 30th and Friday, January 1st in preparation for challenging our rival site. Saturday, January 2nd declares thy beginning of our courageous assault upon Ningin’s flash games sub-site. More »

From Ningin: Alas, my very first portable gaming system. Although I’ve been playing games since 1984, I never was fortunate enough back then to get a regular black and white Gameboy, especially not the Neo Geo pocket or Atari Lynx. Don’t know what these things are? If you don’t that’s fine, just keep it to yourself and don’t ask me what Moses was like during his teens. More »

From Ningin: The figures are good, VERY good. The latest Final Fantasy game has sold over 1,500,000 units out of 1.8 Million that they shipped in the records that Famitsu reported. This figure is in Japan, and the PS3 alone. (There is no Japanese Xbox version) Hmm I guess they were quick to get the figures out because they didn’t release the one-week figures yet. More »

With the holidays right around the corner and the recession in full swing there is no doubt everyone is feeling the pressure to pinch-pennies this holiday season. If you’re unable to shell out $60 for a new game for that special gamer on your list, here’s a thrifty list of ideas that won’t set you back anything more than a Jackson. More »

From Wirebot:
When the Playstation 3 initially launched back in 2006 it came with two things, a high gloss exterior and a hefty price tag. The $499 (20GB) and $599 (60GB) price points gave gamers’ wallets a reason to gasp. Frugal gamers everywhere were given more of a reason to leave the Sony camp and purchase the Xbox 360, which were initially priced at $299 and $399 depending on the model. Loyal Playstation fans have always justified the higher price by stating that the Xbox 360 has less features and charges to play online, so in the end it equaled out to around the same price in their logic. This argument was well grounded until both systems received a price cut early this year. Now, it appears that after you add up the equipment necessary to make both systems technical equivilants, the Playstation 3 is the cheaper deal. But, don’t take my word for it, lets do the math. We are coming close to 2010, which is promising to be a “Golden” year for gaming, with new technologies (example. Microsoft Natal) and innovations making their way to release. I’ve always considered myself a bit of pessimist, so forgive me if I sit over here on the other side of my computer fake sneezing and screaming “bull$h17!” at the top of my lungs. More »
