A survey by Crowd Science indicates that an alarming number of Blackberry owners “definitely or probably would” switch over to iPhone or Android when they make their next purchases. More »

Charlie Kindel (not Amazon Kindle) of Microsoft played with his Windows Phone 7 prototype yesterday, and while the user interface looks fancy, there is not anything terribly new or exciting. More »

Microsoft beat Apple to the race and presented its Courier awhile back, but most of the media still focused on Apple’s January 27th event, when the iPad was eventually demonstrated. Despite the ambivalent reception from observers, Apple stocks rose 8 points yesterday when it informed the public of the iPad’s ship date. I, for one, am far more intrigued by what Microsoft has in the pipes than Apple, even though I am a firm devotee to the latter. More »

The consensus is that the iPhone and iPod Touch’s capacitive multi-touch implementation is thoroughly better than all Android smartphones. There is scientific testing, which proves that Apple’s touchscreen technology is superior. More »

From Htcyou: MobileSyrup has the Rogers branded unit in its hands (likely from a Best Buy employee). The mid-range Samsung Galaxy Spica should be hitting store shelves in a few weeks, but no prices have been published. Based on the Telus Motorola Milestone’s release, I would expect Rogers to sell the Galaxy Spica for well under $600, but who knows? More »

From Htcyou: eXpansys UK has both the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini and Mini Pro for pre-order. The Android smartphones are scheduled to ship on April 13th in the UK. More »

From Htcyou: The headline is Innocomm’s promise. Its upcoming Shark Android smartphone will have the performance of the Nexus One but at a much lower price when it launches in May or June. In fact, the 3.2″ LCD (800 x 480) Shark will likely be free with multi-year contract from select carriers. More »

From Htcyou: Hot on the heels of ARCHOS 7 Home Tablet’s announcement, the Kogan Pad is purportedly going to be $200 and runs Android, Linux, and Windows (although the latter will be dropped due to price). Kogan is the same company whose Agora Android smartphone is still vaporware. More »

From Htcyou: ARCHOS is releasing an inexpensive Android tablet for the rest of us who are not disposed to spending half a grand or more for a tablet. The Home Tablet is a 7″ budget device that has a 600Mhz ARM9 CPU and even plays 720p. More »

HP has actually been manufacturing full laptop tablets for years. Today, the world’s top PC seller announced two new models –the 2540p and 2740p, both powered by 12.1″ LED multi-touch (1280 x 800) displays, Windows 7 and Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, starting at $1099 - $1599 in April (USA). From Htcyou: Mozilla’s mobile port of my favorite web browser is quickly progressing. This week, the developers uploaded a few pictures of Fennec running on a Motorola Droid and a Nexus One. Programmer Mark Finkle also has a slide-show presentation about FireFox for mobile devices. More »

From Htcyou: Menq is a company producing alarmingly inexpensive electronics and netbooks. The EasyPC E790 is a dual-booting Windows CE and Android computer that takes “affordable” to a whole new level at $80. It has yet to see retail, but if it arrives soon at the promised price, it could be decent for those on a very low budget. More »

According to a survey by Morgan Stanley in 2008, the unit’s cost, service plan cost, upfront payment, and contract length were the top four largest barriers for consumers when considering an Apple iPhone. A Morgan Stanley analyst expects Apple to unveil new, less expensive iPhones in June. More »

From Htcyou: Adobe’s MWC appearance revealed something big: only smartphones with ARM Cortex-A8 or faster processors will run Flash 10.1 properly. Also, 50Mb of free RAM is required, but all current Android devices have this covered; unfortunately, in North America, only the Nexus One and Motorola Droid have the CPU requirements, so this means that the HTC Magic (myTouch), Dream (G1), Hero, Motorola CLIQ, and other top selling Android phones will not be supported. Haleron’s iLet Mini HAL tablet could be a great bargain. It has a tempting price and decent specs, but with little information about the company that makes it and currently no reviews of the product, it is a $199 risk. More »
