From Htcyou: Google has finally released Google Earth for Android 2.1 phones, of which there is only one at the moment. The 22Mb application runs very smoothly on the Nexus One and looks nearly as good as its computer counterpart. More »

I rarely exceed 66% of the 4Gb in my machine, but for others who have only a few gigs of memory, or who require more memory than I do, Memory Washer is an incredibly useful application for freeing up memory and optimizing your system’s usage of CPU and RAM resources. From Htcyou: The programming geniuses over at OpenEclair have come a long way since the first version of its open source Eclair 2.1 ROM was released on January 28th. Now in build 1.2.2, OpenEclair is generally regarded as the best, fastest (and certainly the most promising) Android 2.1 ROM for the HTC Magic and Dream (myTouch 3G and G1 respectively). The latest Hexxeh Flow build of Google’s open source ChromiumOS has nVidia Ion graphics support. Google’s netbook, which is supposed to be out in the winter, will ship with its own version of Chrome OS. This application is free and integrates Google Maps. Citysmart has interactive GPS, an events calender, live traffic updates, transportation planner, “Footprint” of photos taken, which can then be replayed on Google Earth, and much more. More »

Jobs allegedly deprecated Adobe recently, calling the company “lazy.” The Apple CEO is arguably justified in leaving Flash support off the iPhone and the forthcoming iPad. More »

Almost every large phone OEM has many Android platforms in the works, Motorola recently canned all their WinMobile and other designs and are moving everything over to Android. Similarly, Korean OEMs are heavily targeting Android and there will be plethora of Android phones soon in the market. Apple’s inherent advantage are the integration of their media content, applications, iTunes, etc. as well as having relatively “optimized” implementation of hardware and software integration - they control everything so that general performance will generally be superior than competing platforms. Contrary to the TV advertisements, your Mac was just a plain Mac and not really a PC after all, at least not a Windows 7 PC, until Tuesday when Apple officially made Bootcamp 3.1 available for download. Nearly all Intel Macs are now capable of running 32-bit or 64-bit versions of Windows 7. The former is a 381Mb package, while the latter is 275Mb. I choose 64-bit. More »
