My new Sharp Aquos LCD TV had been working with no issues in the two months since I bought it. Without ever touching the settings or touching any of the cables, the TV stopped reconizing HDMI inputs. The cable, composite inputs, and components inputs worked fine - leaving me with no explanation as to why the HDMI inputs all of a sudden stopped working. Restoring the settings to factory default didn’t work. Flashing the bios - yes TVs have bioses now - didn’t work. Here’s what eventually did: More »

About a month ago I was lucky enough to get a free iPad. I know this is somewhat a crime to say, but I really haven’t been using it much other than to review apps that I get. I believe one of those apps (which I suspect to be We Rule) caused my iPad to inexplicably just turn off and won’t turn back on. In the past when this glitchiness happens, holding down the power button for 5 seconds fixes it for me. If that doesn’t work you can connect it to your iTunes computer and have it restore your iPad. Fixed yet? My problem was a bit more severe and required some extra effort to fix. Here’s the step-by-step: More »

Since Newegg and AMD were kind enough to give Ziggytek an AMD Athlon II X4 processor, I was curious what kind of build we could make with that. Perhaps this would be useful to the winner of our current giveaway. I’m going to make a build that I would actually use for myself or in the Mixr Media office. I’ve also set a budget of $500 which doesn’t include a monitor. After the jump, a really good, all-purpose build for under $500 with the AMD Athlon II X4 processor. More »

Russian programmers have managed to load Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 ROM onto the HTC HD2, which will never see an official WP7 update. So far, Wireless, GPS, Bluetooth, and nearly everything else is working except the graphics driver and lack of CPU optimization, leading to some lag. More »

As expected, the 4G Android phone that many have been drooling over is the “Supersonic,” now officially named the EVO 4G. Sprint will be releasing this HTC made super-phone in the summer. More »

Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 presentation today unveiled nothing that has not been widely rumored for months: there will be no multitasking; Microsoft’s Marketplace store is the only way to obtain WM7 apps; HTC HD2 will not be upgraded to WM7. In a nutshell, Microsoft is following the strictly isolationist iPhone instead of open source Android (surprise!). In more cheerful news, Samsung, Asus, and LG all demoed WM7 devices. More »

From Ningin:
Congratulations to Ningin again for the upset win over Wirebot in the inaugural MLG tournament. So far I like what I’m seeing with Mixr League Gaming. There has been many a tearful eye, much blood was spilled, and we even had a couple of babies exchanged hands. Yes, all this makes for a bright MLG future and something that we’re going to greatly expand. Pretty soon, we’re going to have users form their own teams and play for pins. prizes, and other glories in the MLG Ladders. Still lots of testing that needs to be done, but we’re getting there! As part of the ongoing preview on CrazySingleLife, we’re going to introduce some of the dating stars before the site launches. Each dater on CSL will have an alias derived from a color. They also have to write two posts before they start dating, an introduction post and a Mr./Mrs. Right post. The introduction post is meant as a description of themselves, but not like height, age, occupation. It’s more a window into their soul and the journey that their heart has been on. The second post is an open letter to the future Mr./Mrs. Right so that he or she will know to come calling on our daters.
The following except is from the introductory letter of Cerulean, one of the two female bloggers for CSL. On Monday, you met Tenne and on Wednesday you will meet Steel. Enjoy! More »
