iPhones, netbooks, laptops and MP3 players are kind of a snore when it comes to evaluating each based on normality. Luckily for us, 2009 saw no shortage of weird gadgets to off-set the trend of normalcy. This brings us to our list of the Top 10 Weirdest Gadgets of 2009. More »

Generally, my poison of choice is the vodka tonic. While I’d much prefer that it’d be champagne, vodka tonic is usually the more economical choice. The Cocktail Cost Calculator on the other hand, tells us otherwise. Based on the bulk prices of the core ingredients that any well-stocked bar would have, this web-calculator allows you to figure out how much your drink is really worth if you just made it at home. For free, of course. More »

I have much in common with fat kids: cake. As a former fat kid, I couldn’t be more impressed with the Magisso Cake Server. This stainless steal wonder works graciously with a light squeeze to lift out a perfectly shaped piece of cake from your cake. Never had I imagined a technique far more efficient than using a trusted cake knife to get cut cake and place it on your platter! More »

Living in a home devoid of nectar bearing flowers, humming birds sightings are a rarity. They’re not quite something I’d blow $2.1 million on though. Japanese researchers are have currently thrown down that much to develop a humming bird robot that’ll be instrumental in helping to rescue people from wrecks, search for criminals and maybe even serve as a space probe controlled by infrared sensors. Not only is Sin City forever known to me as a place most sacred in my heart of hearts, it’s also the home of the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show. CES, for short. Set to happen Jan 7-10, this year’s CES show is boasting a record number of tech exhibitors: 2,500 exhibitors showcasing all their latest wares for 2010! Makes me wonder — is three days even enough? Is it possible to visit every exhibitor? More »

From Ningin: Ninginers! As of today, think of me not as Jinra, Mother Ningin, but as Queen Jinranidas. Looming ahead in the not-so-distant horizon of 2010 is a grand sporting event of epic proportions. For an event as grand as this, I call upon you to prepare for glory! From Jan. 2 to 4, Ningin will host the birth of the first official Mixr League Gaming (MLG) Tournament. Teams that compete in the MLG are formed of both Mixr staff and community members based on cyberathletic ability in flash games. More »

For anyone living in New York City in need of an iPhone right this instant, as in…right now, you’re out of luck. If you’re trying to get it from AT&T online, at least. According to Engadget, AT&T is not offering any reasons why they’re not selling the iPhone online. Aside from telling people the iPhone’s disappearance from AT&T online is the result of credit card fraud causing a ban on online sales, customer service reps aren’t being much of a help. More »

No word on how much or when Samsung will release their 14MP Digital CL80 Camera, but I have to say, it’s pretty sexy. Some of the features it boasts are a 31mm Wide Angle Lens, 14 Megapixels & 7x Optical Zoom along with an AMOLED screen and WiFi capability. While it does indeed sound sexy, it’s not the first AMOLED, WiFi capable digicam. Also, is WiFi capability all that necessary in cameras? More »

As a woman, I love dresses. Like, a lot. Daan Roosegaarde, V2 Lab, and Maartje Dijkstra’s Intimacy dress however, is one dress I would not like to own. For one, all it takes is a “magic” ball containing a radio frequency tag to come close to the dress in order for it to start becoming transparent. The radio frequency tag gets detected by circuitry in the dress’ collar. More »
