These iPhone 4G/HD prototype leaks are becoming comical. A company that was once so adept at maintaining secrecy of its top products cannot keep its biggest star under wraps. A Hong Kong website has photographs of both a black and a white iPhone 4G, which looks fake. More »

For a second, assume that the white front cover for the iPhone 4G/HD is genuine, and that the colors depicted exist. Which would you pick? More »

According to the screenshots of iPhone OS 4, the soon to be released Apple operating system features video calling, something that anyone who has been paying attention to the iPhone 4G/HD leaks should already know. More »

Before the company that actually designs and owns the product can even make an official announcement about it, everyone else has already had a say regarding the iPhone 4G/HD, which is definitely going to be shown at WWDC 10. Two Chinese manufacturers have made products for the unreleased phone: iridescent rubber/plastic cases and replacement front covers in black/white. Were these skins constructed long ago with information from Apple, or is this an example of how illegal leaks from Gizmodo and Tinhte can provide unauthorized profiteering off trade secrets? Regarding the front covers, they cannot be legal. More »

In response to allegations from Apple pundit John Gruber that he, Jesus Diaz (Gizmodo editor), had orchestrated the iPhone 4G/HD prototype purchase between fellow Gizmodo colleague Jason Chen and seller Brian J Hogan and had fled the country to the haven of native land Spain, Diaz Tweats, “I wish I was in Spain now. Sadly: http://yfrog.com/6bxg3wj hey, @gruber you are a liar #losers #fail #assclowns.” Have you noticed that Gizmodo, which never fails to cover the most mundane Apple story, has neglected even to mention the leaked affidavit? Facing pressure from various media outlets, the DA has unsealed the affidavit for the police raid on Gizmodo’s editor. The court documents reveal that Steve Jobs personally called the blog to “request” the phone back, that Apple instigated the police investigation, that Gizmodo permanently damaged the prototype when it tore the phone to pieces, and that the sellers allegedly knew what they were doing and attempted to hide their identities. Apple is leaking iPhone 4G/HD prototypes everywhere, on two different continents. Vietnamese members from Taoviet first posted pictures of the latest iPhone prototype, which Tinhte then videotaped (tape?) and photographed some more. Afterward, Photoshopped images of the phone running iPhone OS 4 appeared. More »

From the same Digitimes that reported about Pegatron Technologies‘ alleged CDMA iPhone 4G/HD contract comes today’s delicious rumor that Apple has ordered 10,000,000 CDMA iPhone units for the remainder of the year. More »

“Finders keepers, losers weepers,” right? As it turns out, the finder might be the one crying in the Apple iPhone prototype scandal. 21-year-old Brian J. Hogan has been named as the discoverer of the lost device. His lawyer states that Gizmodo cajoled him into selling the unit, reassuring him “that there was nothing wrong in sharing the phone with the tech press.” Hogan’s story is that he thought he was selling the phone for Gizmodo to review, but Jason Chen instead proceeded to perform disective surgery on the invaluable prototype. Mashable is saying that “sources familiar with the situation” informs the site that not only is the iPhone 4G/HD going to be presented at the WWDC 10 keynote, but that it could go on sale immediately following the announcement. More »

Jason Chen, editor of Gizmodo, had a nasty shock on Friday night, when San Mateo police raided his home and seized a bunch of computers, electronics, and other items that might have been “used as the means of committing a felony” in the iPhone 4G/HD prototype purchase. Chen was not home at the time of the initial police break-in but found the crew surrounding his premises. More »

Have you visited Gizmodo lately? For the sake of your intelligence, I suggest that you do not, but since it is my job, I have to. That website has always been Apple-centric (in many ways, so is Ziggytek!), but these past few weeks, it has gone overboard and beyond redemption. The blog is now an Apple operation –except it is unauthorized, just like the stolen iPhone teardown. More »

Apple has spoken to the local police about the possibility of criminal charges against the seller of the lost (or stolen) iPhone 4G prototype. A task force for the Santa Clara County district attorney’s office has begun an official investigation into the matter, although it is not known whether Gizmodo is also the subject of the probe. More »

What I find even more entertaining than the iPhone 4G prototype leak is how Gizmodo’s lack of journalistic integrity has impelled the blog to endeavor self justification that is failing, big time. Following the reader comments on two Gizmodo lectures about its cleverness and open-mindedness, one cannot laugh at how a majority of its own fans are frowning upon the site. More »

Well, at least Gizmodo’s $5,000 payment for the stolen iPhone prototype captured over 4.2 million visits to the page. I hope that Gizmodo got its money’s worth and enjoyed its fame because Apple has grounds to sue the blog for purchasing stolen merchandise. Writer Jason Chen professes innocence and says that they did not know the prototype had been stolen (yeah right!), yet the law does not require buyers to be aware of a commodity’s legality. Gizmodo is also in danger of facing California’s Uniform Trade Secrets Act. More »
