From Htcyou: Most of you could care less what South Koreans are getting, but many North Americans will buy some version of the Samsung Galaxy S, which is hitting every carrier under the sky. An early August FroYo update for the Korean Galaxy S should mean that its carbon copies worldwide will receive the same treatment shortly thereafter. More »

From Htcyou: AT&T;’s oft criticized network and having a very different design than the other Galaxy versions, the Captivate can be looked at as somewhat of the black sheep within the Samsung Galaxy S family. Woz was enthralled with his Google Nexus One when he purchased it, and although he still loves Android’s useful voice recognition, he thinks that its open source foundation (ironically) makes it too similar to Windows, an operating system that tries to do everything but staggers at doing anything well. How mortifying is this –you, a lady, proudly purchase a “brand new” WiMAX smartphone (HTC Evo 4G) from a third-party Sprint dealer, show it off to your co-workers and friends, and they discover X-rated pornography on the device! Never would such an embarrassing fiasco occur with a Steve Jobs phone. More »

FaceTime is a great concept because it is free, but its being restricted to Wi-Fi (for now) also makes it limited. Fring is an application that allows 3G and Wi-Fi video calling between iPhone 4 owners. Best of all, though, is that Fring is cross-platform and enables callers using Android, Symbian, or iPhone 4 to chat together. More »
