SuperiPhone from the Czech Republic claims to have put the iPhone 4G/HD display under a microscope and to have confirmed earlier rumors that the upcoming iPhone will have a high-resolution 960×640 IPS LCD, technology that is similar to the iPad and the iMac. More »

For a second, assume that the white front cover for the iPhone 4G/HD is genuine, and that the colors depicted exist. Which would you pick? More »

Beginning June, shortly after or at WWDC on the 7th, Apple is reportedly going to ship 24 million iPhone 4G/HD units before the end of the year. Foxconn is supposed to be the manufacturer that is building the new iPhone with IPS panels at 960×640 resolution. The LG and Prime View International displays are said to include FFS (fringe-field switching) for easier readability under sunlight. More »

There is more than one leaked iPhone 4G/HD prototype in the world. This time, a Vietnamese source has published photos and a video of the unit, which looks identical to Gizmodo’s, save for missing screws on the bottom by the dock connector. More »

So the iPhone, under the original terms, is still contracted to be an AT&T only phone until 2012. Court documents reveal that back in 2007, Apple and AT&T signed the deal, but what is not known is if the contract has since been amended. More »

Most of Apple’s designs are drool-worthy. Even the masses are captivated by their looks –yet no one would want to eat an iPhone…until now. iChocolates are handmade, organic, gourmet chocolates fashioned after iPhone apps. Regrettably, the boxes of candy have sold out, but iChocolate Paris should make another batch. More »

Have you visited Gizmodo lately? For the sake of your intelligence, I suggest that you do not, but since it is my job, I have to. That website has always been Apple-centric (in many ways, so is Ziggytek!), but these past few weeks, it has gone overboard and beyond redemption. The blog is now an Apple operation –except it is unauthorized, just like the stolen iPhone teardown. More »

Apple has spoken to the local police about the possibility of criminal charges against the seller of the lost (or stolen) iPhone 4G prototype. A task force for the Santa Clara County district attorney’s office has begun an official investigation into the matter, although it is not known whether Gizmodo is also the subject of the probe. Well, at least Gizmodo’s $5,000 payment for the stolen iPhone prototype captured over 4.2 million visits to the page. I hope that Gizmodo got its money’s worth and enjoyed its fame because Apple has grounds to sue the blog for purchasing stolen merchandise. Writer Jason Chen professes innocence and says that they did not know the prototype had been stolen (yeah right!), yet the law does not require buyers to be aware of a commodity’s legality. Gizmodo is also in danger of facing California’s Uniform Trade Secrets Act. More »

Gizmodo’s video tear-down of the purported Apple iPhone “4G” (4th generation, not WiMAX) do not provide much new information that we did not previously surmise was coming. Some aspects of the prototype do not represent known Apple design and engineering philosophies, so the finished iPhone that should be unveiled at WWDC will probably look somewhat different. More »

Are you a gadget geek? Should the answer be affirmative, then you have already become well acquainted with these nefarious iPhone “4G” photo leaks. The only thing sadder than counterfeit artists are premature journalists. More »

Apple’s iPhone OS 4 will become an official release this summer for the iPhone and the iPod Touch, but the iPad will not get it until the fall. Among the 100 new features added to the operating system are multitasking, more powerful Mail, intelligent folders, iBooks, Game Center, and Enterprise enhancements, but only the iPhone 3GS, the iPad, and the 3rd generation iPod Touch will have full compatibility. Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 presentation today unveiled nothing that has not been widely rumored for months: there will be no multitasking; Microsoft’s Marketplace store is the only way to obtain WM7 apps; HTC HD2 will not be upgraded to WM7. In a nutshell, Microsoft is following the strictly isolationist iPhone instead of open source Android (surprise!). In more cheerful news, Samsung, Asus, and LG all demoed WM7 devices. More »
