Every Friday, Ziggytek presents a special article featuring the most epic fails in technological history. Since this is unofficially Apple week, is there a more fitting subject for today’s edition of EPIC FAIL FRIDAYS? Notice that all of these Apple failures listed here predate 2002. Jobs‘ return to Apple in the late ’90s ushered in the company’s golden era, wherein almost everything that the Cupertino wizard touched turned to precious metal. More »

Apple’s iPad will probably be at least somewhat successful, but I have my reservations about its appeal. Personally, I have no need for this e-reader/netbook hybrid, and its shortcomings are quite apparent. Even though I think that it will be a solid seller, to play devil’s advocate, I will propose five major reasons why the iPad should be a failure. More »

Wall Street analysts predict that the iPad will move 4 million units by this year and double that number in 2011. I have five big explanations for why it will be Waterworld and not Avatar, but that list is for tomorrow. Today, I want to examine why the iPad is destined for big things. More »

Is the Apple iPad just an advanced iPod iTouch or Amazon Kindle on steroids? So far, reactions are very mixed in the media and within Apple’s fan-base, but most people who do not own an Apple product are scoffing –and I cannot fault them for their derision. One day after the main show, I feel that entire January 27th event was underwhelming. My favorite part of the proceedings was the introduction, when we got to hear the tail-end of CCR’s spectacular “Rude Awakening.” More »

From Htcyou: Several sources intimate that AT&T;will lose its Apple iPhone exclusivity by this week. Recently, the carrier announced that Android powered smartphones will finally make their way onto its network, with HTC, Dell, and Motorola slated to combine for five new products coming to AT&T;. As we near Apple’s Wednesday event, I have been thinking more about what I would do with the Apple Tablet. If the speculations are correct, and the device will be a family sharing bulletin board, casual gaming handheld, multimedia player, and on-line journal reader, then it could be useful for some middle-class households, but personally, I have no practical application for it, and I doubt that many Westerners under the age of 35 do either. Some of the prognosticators got it wrong; Ballmer did not showcase Microsoft’s tablet. Instead, he sung praises about Windows 7, which will be powering HP’s upcoming tablet. Focusing on software rather than hardware, Ballmer demonstrated the HP tablet, which will be among the Windows based candidates ready to take on Apple’s anticipated Tablet. The other big news involves Project Natal, which is scheduled to be in stores this Christmas. More »

2009 served up plenty of pleasant surprises but also head-shaking disappointments too. Here is my top five epic fails of the year, led by the lowering of sonic fidelity, some computing complaints, Blu-Ray failures, gaming gaffs, and OLED delays. More »

The more rumors come out about the Apple tablet the more likely it’ll come to fruition. The latest rumors suggest two possible tablet devices. One will be the high end model, priced around $2,000 and include a 9.7-inch OLED touch-screen. The second one will be for the budget conscious folks and will be somewhere between $800 and $1,000 but will only include the standard LCD. But wait, there’s even more. More »

The rumored Apple tablet will be getting a lot of competition from Microsoft’s new Courier tablet PC, if it should ever get released. In the video from Gizmodo (also after the break), you can see all of the features of the new double screened courier tablet and how each of them operates.

The leaked video also focuses on one of the main features of the Courier, the “infinite journal”. The infinite journal is a note taking app that is essentially endless and which resembles that of the iPhone notetaking app. You can type and add as much information as you can onto the device and it will be able to store it, allowing the user to later publish it straight to a site or a PowerPoint. CrunchGear has screen shots of what looks like the Apple Tablet. The screen shots are all of movies, so that may be one of the focus of the Apple Tablet. There’s also a virtual keyboard on the screen. Crunchgear has not confirmed these pictures are of the actual tablet but their source claims these are early screen shots of what Steve Jobs wants in the upcoming Apple Tablet. For more screen shots, check out Crunchgear here.

Could it be? A picture of the actual Apple Tablet? According to Boy Genius Reports, the picture after the break could be the actual Apple tablet. The device is show with Mac welcome screen, which is odd considering many thought the tablet would have iPhone like software and less Mac OS X. The device also shows the home button right smack in the middle of the middle of the device. A device like that should probably have it on the side, but I don’t get paid thousands of dollars to come up with these designs. A zoomed out pic and more details after the break. More »

If you were expecting an Apple Tablet this year, that won’t happen as The Loop is saying the tablet will probably be available in the second half of next year and not September like we’ve all been hearing. Fear not people, you’ll still get your Apple fix in September with the Apple iPod event.

Looks like someone over at Barron’s has already seen the Apple Tablet. According to 9to5mac, the tablet will be announced in September and released sometime in November. The unnamed source from Barron’s said the tablet is all ready to go but waiting for the Almighty Steve Jobs to give his final approval. More »

With the recent rumors of a new tablet coming soon from Apple, we were salivating at the thought of what the tablet could possibly look like (if it looks like the picture above from ZDnet, then I’m all for it). Before Apple releases the tablet to the public, here’s a few things the Apple Tablet should offer. More »
