For anyone living in New York City in need of an iPhone right this instant, as in…right now, you’re out of luck. If you’re trying to get it from AT&T online, at least. According to Engadget, AT&T is not offering any reasons why they’re not selling the iPhone online. Aside from telling people the iPhone’s disappearance from AT&T online is the result of credit card fraud causing a ban on online sales, customer service reps aren’t being much of a help. More »

Starting mid-January 2010, 11,000 McDonald’s restaurants across the nation will partner up with AT&T to provide loiterers free WiFi. Apparently, this is their solution to getting McDonald’s loiterers to purchase food while loitering. Bored teenagers will now have the option to scarf down fries in between Facebook status updates. AT&T is being very generous this holiday season, not to the point where they’ll pay your bill, but generous enough. Today, AT&T announced that they would would be giving half-off many Blackberry handsets, including the brand new Bold 9700, and the Bold 9000 as well as other devices like the Curve 8900, 8320, 8520 and 8310. Of course this is after the mail in rebate and requires a two year contract, but if you’re going to get a two year contract with them anyway, you might as well cash in on this offer, especially since it’s only for the holiday season. While RIM is ruling the AT&T sales, that’s not all they have to offer for the holidays. More »

The past few weeks (including today), we’ve been hearing rumors of a possible Google phone coming (mid-next year) to compete in the extremely crowded smartphone market. Along with that rumor, came that AT&T wants to be the exclusive data provider of the upcoming Google Phone. If those rumors hold true and AT&T hops in bed with Google, what does it mean for its exclusive rights to the iPhone?

On the surface, it doesn’t seem like AT&T and Apple are having any problems. I mean have you seen Apple’s latest commercials firing back at Verizon for the “Droid Does” commercials. Apple is defending AT&T like they’re best buds. More »

Whenever I have a chat with friends who own iPhones and iPods, they alway complain about why Apple hasn’t added certain features and why AT&T is the only network on the iPhone. Well, instead of telling each person individually, I’ve decided to write a post so I can not only inform them but readers of ZiggyTek as well. In this post, we’ll explain why Apple waits to integrate pariticular features into their devices and why they are still locked in with AT&T. More »

Well, well, well, looks like Apple is jumping in on the war against Verizon as well. Apple will be releasing two new ads starting tonight, that show off its ability to browse the web and talk at the same time, something that’s not allowed on almost every Verizon phone. This is a response to the “iDon’t” ads released by Verizon for the Droid, highlighting the things the iPhone is incapable of doing. With Apple firing back, Verizon is getting attacked from two sides, with AT&T doing its own thing to fight Verizon’s latest “there’s a map for that” ad.

If you haven’t ignored your television commercials lately, you’ve most likely come across Verizon ads that point out Apple’s lack of 3G coverage in parts of the US. Verizon even went as far as releasing an ad making fun of AT&T’s coverage crippling the iPhone (check it out after the break).

Well, AT&T didn’t sit back and take it. AT&T filed a lawsuit against Verizon for the “there’s a map for that” and then started new ads starring Luke Wilson, that are supposed to convince America that AT&T doesn’t have the shoddy coverage that Verizon claims. So, will it stop soon or will it continue till one of them gets fed up? With AT&T coming out with new ads, this may go on for some time. (check out the ads after the break) More »

Google is readying itself for world domination. Even before their Android OS came out, there were rumors that Google was looking into their own smartphone, but we soon learned that Google wasn’t interested in hardware, until now. There have been reports from multiple sources that Google is looking into creating their own smartphone, both hardware and software, and this time it’s actually true. While playing a big role in the creation of the DROID, Google still felt that the hardware design, and many of the application designs were out of their hands, so they decided to create their own device, bringing the full Android Platform upfront. AT&T is already straining from the data usage of the iPhone but now they are looking to broaden their horizons with a flash of new products that will put even more pressure on their networks. AT&T is currently working with Dell to introduce their newest device, the Dell MID. Dubbed the Dell Streak, the device will feature 3G services for a great internet experience and will use Android software (wow, the Android platform really is going around). More »
