Blockbuster has offered a new deal, this time targeted towards good students. Blockbuster has much to offer, such as movie rentals in DVD and Blu-ray format, as well as game rentals. The chain store knows that students who study hard don’t have as much time to simply enjoy watching a movie, so they have decided to reward the students with a free DVD movie rental. More »

Not to take pleasure in other people’s misfortune, but video rental store Blockbuster has finally applied for bankruptcy. I’m sure we’re all thinking the same thing here: “It’s about time.” What with Netflix and the internet, I’d like to see how many people would voluntary trudge their lazy rears out the front door to a nearby blue and yellow rental store. According to the LA Times, movie rental chain Blockbuster Videosmight be filing for a pre-planned bankruptcy as soon as September rolls around. May I just be the first to say, “Finally!” No offense to this blue and yellow franchise, but when Netflix started rolling out the delivered-to-your-doorstep movie rentals, they should’ve known something was up. Peek, the tiny device dedicated to email and messaging is now expanding to include social networking service, Twitter. The Peek is currently available in nationwide Blockbusters. Peek users who buy their device from any Blockbuster will also receive a free month of Blockbuster Total Access (similar to Netflix), and BR disks that can be received by mail or picked up in-store. Blockbuster is making a comeback after the emergence of Netflix and other video streaming sites. Blockbuster has decided to take it a step further and allow their Blockbuster OnDemand movies for download on new Motorola phones.

Users of this service will be able to download movies straight to their phone on the go, which will drastically improve the movie watching experience through Blockbuster.
