Jung Dae Hoon’s cell phone/projector on a fashionable bracelet is red dot’s 2009 winner for best “design concept.” More »

Let us play a game: regularly, we scour allover for the strangest looking gadgets, and then you guess wildly what they are. Very chic and as useful as it looks, this concept fuses high fashion and technology and makes you wish that the designer could have it put into production. More »

Courtesy of a Japanese blog is this conceptual rendering of Nintendo’s 3DS, which is going to be unveiled at E3. Details about the DS replacement are sparse, but its main attraction is 3D without the glasses. More »

Arina Kamorova has designed a new concept model for a shower. The Cocoon Egg shower gets its name from the obvious shape of the unit. Not only does it function as a shower, but it also can be used as a bath tub, or even a hydro massager. More »

We take a lot of things for granted. Sight, touch, smell, taste, and hearing. Ever wonder how a deaf person uses a phone? Well, they probably don’t, but that could very well change in the next couple years. More »

The Consumer Electronics Show is like a circus. Some of the stuff you could really go for, and some other stuff you could do without. I’m labeling this concept model by Chinese designer Daizi Zheng a “dud.” Here’s what Zheng had to say about his invention: More »

The guys over at Akihabara News snapped some photos of concept phones at Fujitsu’s Booth in this year’s CEATEC (Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies). The one pictured above is the KORA bracelet PC phone.

My particular favorite was the pen phone. It has a real Dick Tracy detective/spy feel to it. Too bad they are all concepts. I wouldn’t mind having a phone shaped like a soap dish. Go check out the whole gallery of photos.

Apple, Nokia and Android UI’s all have a futuristic look, adding multiple features and stylish designs, but what they lack is the human side of social interaction. The newly designed Nokia concept smartphone UI was created by CIID (Copenhagen Institution for Interactive Design) students, Kevin and Tobias, on a two week study course with Nokia. The UI itself is as interactive and fun as playing with a puppy.

Dubbed, “Little Friend”, the UI concept was essentially designed for the user to interact with “live” avatars, the way someone would interact with a real person. The user could text people in groups of avatars standing side by side or put that special someone on a cloud. More »

I used to be a pretty big fan of bluetooth headsets until the higher end models started to cost as much as cell phones. But here’s a new concept that might redefine (good or bad, it’s still up in the air) the headset craze. Argentinian design team BCK, has designed a ring concept in which the two rings are used to talk on the phone and end calls. More pics and details below. More »

BMW’s Vision Efficient Dynamics concept is truly amazing and its the first time I’ve ever seen lit-up grills and I have to say, not hating it at all. The front of the car looks like a blend between a standard BMW, a Chevy Camaro and a cow but it’s done nicely, so I’ll leave it alone. BMW says the futuristic car will be a three cylinder turbo diesel hybrid electric 265 hp. You can read all the details about the concept from BMW, with pics after the break. More »

Wall clocks are getting more sophisticated every day. Check out this clock, the Good Afternoon, which uses diffuse light as hands instead of the traditional ticking pieces of metal or plastic. It’s a design created by Japan’s Mile Project.

There’s a glass surface with narrow slits that allow rays of light to act as the hour, minute and second hands. Now looking at the design, it’s so simple, yet so cool. It makes you wonder why someone hasn’t come out with the design already. Wall clocks are definitely getting more high tech, I’d love to have one these, wouldn’t you? More »

As phone become more sophisticated, new designs and concepts start to pop up. Here’s one from designer Seunghan Song, the Window Phone. The concept is a translucent phone, that will display information on a window like surface.

Just by looking at the concept phone, it’ll have a hard time actually being practical but you can’t blame the designer for thinking outside the box The phone will have the ability to change its look based on how the weather is outside (clear screen on sunny days, virtual rain drops on rainy days). It’s going to be a tough sell if this thing ever does come into fruition. More »

LG needs to stop making iPhone “killers” and start making crazy designs like the cell phone that turns into headphones. At least it’s something innovative. The Hi-Fi, headphone turning cell phone was one of the winners among LG’s Design the Future competition. More »

I’m not a fan of calendars. I don’t have one on my desk nor do I like scheduling things. I do my best to remember things but a new calendar concept by Oscar Diaz, just might make me get a wall calender. Diaz’s calendar concept is called Ink Calendar and it displays the days of the calendar in a pretty cool way, using ink and a special kind of paper. (Pictures and more details after the break) More »
