Lasers are all the buzz these days and aside from light shows and weapons, they have actually come to use as a safety “net”. Thanks to a brilliant concept designed by Hanyoung Lee, pedestrians can now cross the street without having to worry about cars running a red light, or getting hit for that matter. The idea of the concept is to set up laser towers on either sides of the crosswalk so that a laser wall is projected in front of drivers when the light turns red. When the lights turn green again, the lasers will disappear and will tell pedestrians to wait on either side until the light turns red. More »
Canada is cracking down on driving laws. The newest law hits drivers hard, especially those who like to text while driving. Ontario’s new law bans the use of any handheld gadget while driving, which makes some of us wonder why drinking coffee and changing the radio station falls underneath this law. This new law includes MP3 players, GPS systems, and cell phones although we don’t think the police would mind you breaking the law a few times to position your GPS or put away your cell phone. More »
This bit of news is not surprising at all. NY state Senator Chuck Schumer is leading a group of Senators in introducing a new legislation that would ban text while driving. This new legislation comes after a new research study from Virginia Tech Transportation Institute said that truck drivers were 23 times more likely to crash if they were texting. More »
The State of New Jersey is implementing a new law on its drivers that they cannot operate GPS systems while driving because this could pose a threat to themselves and others. The last time a law such as this one was in early 2008 when New Jersey joined other states to enact hand held cell phone bans. More »
