Popular singer/songwriter John Mayer announced today that he’ll be partaking in a digital cleanse. From Jan. 1 at 9 a.m. to Jan. 8 at 9 am, he’ll be restricting his use of…technology. He insists that while we usually defrag our computers, it’d be a great idea to defrag our “mental and psychological hard drives.” According to John Mayer, technology has done our brains a disservice in the way we now handle small bursts of information via Twitter, text and email. B. Possible, but social networking sites eventually die, so maybe no.

C. Heck no, email is so much better than Facebook/Social Networking sites

Peek, the tiny device dedicated to email and messaging is now expanding to include social networking service, Twitter. The Peek is currently available in nationwide Blockbusters. Peek users who buy their device from any Blockbuster will also receive a free month of Blockbuster Total Access (similar to Netflix), and BR disks that can be received by mail or picked up in-store. Last year while playing for a basketball league with a bunch of my friends, I updated game stats, schedules, among other things with my teammates through Facebook instead of traditional email, not because I didn’t want to but because it was easier and I didn’t have their email addresses. Every one of them had a Facebook account they checked more often than their emails. It wasn’t anything new, I was already following a trend that others had been doing for months on end. Plus, it was easier since most of them checked their Facebook messages more often than their emails.
