Microsoft’s next-generation Kinect will reportedly support lip-reading as well as motion sensor and voice recognition. The motion sensor will not only be able to determine which direction they players are facing but it will also track the pitch and volume of their voices and characteristics to measure their emotions, so it will detect when the gamers are angry. These features aren’t possible in the current version as it uses a USB cable that can only transmit 16Mbps of data, limiting the camera’s resolution to 320×240 at 30fps. More »


The team of Kinect for Windows has recently announced that there will be new Kinect hardware especially designed for Windows. Users will be able to connect it to their PCs to add real-time, 3D tracking to programs, games as well as research projects. The new firmware will also include a new ‘Near Mode’ feature that allows the camera to see objects 50 centimeters in front of the device. More »


Sony has recently added the ability to view full length movies for free to its PlayStation Home, streamed by Sony’s Crackle network. All PS Home users in North America can view the movies with up to 60 users or do private parties with up to 11 users at a time. More »


Mad Catz has recently started shipping its $50 Trigger headset for Xbox 360. It is quite similar to the previous variant, the Detonator, offering stereo sound via a wired connection.
