Glimpses of the first official Apple Store to grace the city of Hong Kong. Though it hasn’t opened yet, photos of the forthcoming store have been spotted from the IFC Mall, where it will be opening at. More »

Hong Kong has been itching for an Apple Store of its own for almost a decade and they are finally going to get not only one, but two stores. Both stores will be located on Hong Kong Island and open within a year according to a report at ifoAppleStore. One of the stores may be a showcase store placed in an area known for its vertical architecture.

The first store will be located in the International Finance Center. It will consist of two high-rise office towers connected by a three-story mall. The prime location should have a side made of glass facing the street so visitors can see what is going on inside even before entering the mall. The city’s train station is also directly across the street from the location and it even has a tunnel connecting to the mall. The store could be 8,100 square feet.

Location two, which is the smaller of the stores will be located only about two miles away from the IFC will be in the Hysan Place which is still being constructed. That part of the city, known as Causeway Bay, generally features older buildings and more traditional architecture which is a big difference compared to a modern Apple Store. The store could be around 20,000 square feet and possibly open for business during the second quarter of 2012. The exact location of the store in that building complex is unknown though.

I thought the first store was pretty big but I was so wrong. Even I have never seen an Apple Store in person. Finally, Hong Kong Apple users will receive two mighty Apple Stores within their vicinity!
