Hospitals are where millions of lives are saved everyday, so shouldn’t they be the ones that are the most technologically advanced? That’s a question that the government asked when they supplied hospitals nationwide $30 Billion Stimulus dollars to switch to electronic records instead of the good old pen and paper. They are also offering doctors bonus payments if they cross the finish line to electronic by 2011. According to a Nikkei.net story, Panasonic will release a robot that will do the work of a front desk clerk and pharmacist at hospitals and eliminate the need for any errors. The robot will have access to patient medical records and dispense prescriptions according to the needs of the patients, read from their records. More »
