From Htcyou: Not long after Virgin Mobile snatched North America’s debut of the HTC Legend, another Canadian GSM carrier has received the coveted aluminum unibody smartphone. Bell Mobility is selling the Legend for $79.95 with a 3-year contract or $399.95 CDN out the door, commitment free. Canada 2, USA zero. More »

HTC’s Legend is an old toy for Europeans, but it has just landed in Canada by way of Virgin Mobile. An odd mixture of high-end build with modestly entry-level internal hardware, the Legend is luring few Motorola Droid, Nexus One, and other top-flight Android 2.1 smartphone owners from their devices, but it should satisfy most consumers who want a moderately fast and beautiful smartphone. From Htcyou: Denizens of Saskatchewan and Manitoba are out in the dark again, but the rest of urban Canada gets another major Android 2.1 smartphone before its prouder American friends. Virgin Mobile is selling the aluminum unibody HTC Legend, which has been out in Europe for sometime, for only $349.99 with a 30-day plan (essentially outright for as low as $375!) and $79.99 on a 3-year term. From Htcyou: HTC has confirmed that the Droid Incredible, Evo 4G, MyTouch Slide, and Desire are on the priority list to receive Android 2.2 updates, but none of them is getting the new OS until the second half of this year. Although HTC has not made a statement about 2009 models, the adverb that “most” 2010 units will get FroYo indicates to me that there is no chance for the likes of the G1, MyTouch 3G, and Droid Eris since not “all” 2010 smartphones will be upgraded. A “tipster” claiming to have insider information says that Bell Canada is landing the sexy HTC Legend that has just passed through FCC hands. Bell’s only Android smartphone is the drab 1.5 Cupcake Samsung Galaxy. More »

From Htcyou: Combining revenue for the first four months of 2010, Android pioneer HTC has raked in $1.76 billion (NT $55.71 billion), up almost 30% from the same time last year. Immense hits like the Desire and the Legend in Europe and the Droid Incredible in the States - and even the HD2 - have contributed to HTC’s record setting April. More »

From Htcyou: In my estimation, the prettiest Android smartphone on the planet, the aluminum unibody HTC Legend has passed through the FCC’s procedural and is going to Canadian GSM carriers: either Rogers, Bell Mobility, or Telus. For Americans, AT&T; has scored the Legend. More »

From Htcyou: Apple’s damning copyright infringement lawsuit against HTC has had no effect on its daily operations. While Apple is no stranger to litigation, regularly defending itself from lawsuits, this is the first time that a major American corporation has lodged legal complaints at HTC. Nevertheless, the Taiwanese company has not slowed down; on the contrary, it is busy launching benchmark Android 2.1 smartphones in Europe (Desire, Legend) and prepping American releases (Evo 4G, Incredible). From Htcyou: Photographic evidence from MoDaCo informs us that the new HTC Legend and Desire smartphones have been rooted. Although few will want to tinker too much with HTC’s Sense UI and Android 2.1, having root access enables programmers to add and/or remove some elements to their liking, thus tuning their smartphones into fully customized machines. From Htcyou: Now arriving in the hands of Europeans, HTC’s Legend represents the second generation of entry-level Android 2.1 smartphones. Here are two comprehensive Legend reviews. Featured is Phone Arena’s 1080p (full HD!) video review. The boys at PA do an outstanding job as usual. Phone Dog’s video walk-through is shot in 720p. More »

From Htcyou: The headline is Innocomm’s promise. Its upcoming Shark Android smartphone will have the performance of the Nexus One but at a much lower price when it launches in May or June. In fact, the 3.2″ LCD (800 x 480) Shark will likely be free with multi-year contract from select carriers. More »

From Htcyou: Fresh rumors have AT&T; landing the coveted HTC Desire, and Sprint getting the Legend, which would be rebadged as the Hero 2. More »

From Htcyou: After a lackluster start to the new year, HTC is hoping that a robust Q2 will propel the company to a resurgent finish to 2010. HTC had expected Q1 revenues to be lower than the previous quarter, but with the eagerly anticipated releases of the Desire, the Legend, and other unconfirmed Android smartphones in the spring and down the line, business should be bustling from here onwards.
