To compile a list of iPad imitators from China would take ages. Even e-tailer giant Amazon is getting into the racket by selling the Touch PC, a generic 7″ slate that runs off Android “1.7″? More »

Some will say that the Motorola Droid is boxy and ugly, but I find it understated and sort of handsome. The Droid is Motorola’s biggest star and is about to be followed up by the almost identical looking Droid 2. Over in China, a Droid clone has appeared that looks the part, but tragically, it runs Windows Mobile 6.5. More »

On a lazy and humid Sunday, cool yourself down by reading about another lookalike –this time, an HTC HD2 Mini wannabe for a low ¥ 550, less than one Benjamin Franklin bill. More »

The iphomeE800 is an Apple iPhone lookalike (not a clear counterfeit) that is available in five different colors (including white!) for just ¥ 550. Furthermore, the clone is bundled with two massive 8800mAh rechargeable batteries! More »

The Pinphone688 is a ¥ 599 Chinese iPhone fake that makes up for its low specs with a wicked Apple shaped kickstand! More »

Google co-founder Larry Page accuses Steve Jobs of “rewriting history” when the Apple CEO says that Google followed Apple into the smartphone market. Page insists that Google had been developing phones long before Apple unveiled the iPhone in 2007. Although Google did buy out a small firm called Android a few years prior to the 1st generation iPhone launch, early prototypes of Android shown in late 2007 were reminiscent of BlackBerrys. More »

What is the point of a lookalike if the details are all wrong? The Air Phone does imitation correctly. The custom operating system has the proper icons and everything! More »

As far as I know, the GPS-Phone beat everyone to the market as the first iPhone 4 imitation, but it is a lookalike only, whereas the ePhone 4GS is a genuine fake that illegally uses Apple’s logo and probably falsified “16Gb” inscription on the back. At $590 Yuan, the ePhone is admittedly very sublime looking. More »

From Htcyou: Do you recall the iPed that stole some attention during Apple’s Chinese iPad launch? That iPed is a bottom rung slate with a 7″ touchscreen and a slow processor. The Orphan M16 has a 10.2-inch (1024×600) display, Android 2.1, and a fast 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 CPU, and it is obtainable for $290 USD. More »

Revealed last month, the promising 10-Inch Zenithink tablet that apes the iPad in form is on sale and looks like it could be a good deal, sporting many features that the iPad lacks and at 40% of the price. More »

Called the GPS-Phone, this iPhone 4 lookalike has an integrated TV tuner and an eye pleasing design, save for its fatness. I wonder where it got its looks from? More »

One of my pet-peeves is the misuse of terms like “knock-off” and “fake” to describe something that is merely a lookalike. Zenithink’s iPadclone” is the latter, although it has widely been misrepresented as the former. Backed by premium features such as Android Eclair 2.1 (no outmoded Donut or Cupcake!) and 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor, the Zenithink tablet might be good and could go for under $300. More »

These iPad imitations are going to flood the market, especially from the East. After all, the iPhone’s original chrome bezel is now one of the most copied design elements in electronics. However, this particular tablet actually looks quite slick because it runs Windows 7, has a 10.1″ 1366×768 LCD, 320Gb mechanical hard drive, 2Gb DDR2 RAM, HDMI, and costs only 2,950 Yuan. More »

You may recall a Chinese iPad replica that was running a customized Android operating system. Manufacturer Utopia Technologies is making an Android powered iPad lookalike too, and it could be as low as $130 USD. One Chinese website has it for sale at 1350 Yuan. More »

Judging by how many people run Hackintosh on their MSI Wind, I know that there is an untapped market for an Apple netbook. A Chinese knock-off is happy to oblige. Equipped with an Intel Atom CPU and NVIDIA Ion2 graphics, this MacBook Pro clone could satisfy your netbook wants. More »
