That’s now past tense, since this can be actually done by installing an app in Cydia called My3G, which allows you to run any Wi-Fi app over your device’s 3G network. Face Time video calling quality does suffer a bit depending on your connection, compared to using Wi-Fi (like the legit Fring), though it is still a must-have! More »

Some impact of Steve JobsiPhone HD announcement was robbed by unethical leaks, most of which turns out to be true. Sandwiched between aluminosilicate glass, which is 20 times harder than plastic and comparable in strength to synthetic sapphire, the iPhone 4 features the IPS Retina Display at 960×640, 5-megapixel LED flash camera with 720p recording, VGA front-facing camera, the A4 SoC, and comes in black or white. Every week, there are thousands of tech news and gadget stories. We will spare you the dross and apprise you of the most important information. Here is the filtered version of this week’s happenings. More »

Snapped with a Cannon G11, these pictures provide a tease for what Monday’s kick-off at Apple’s annual WWDC event holds. As the photographs indicate, iPhone OS 4.0 and apps (duh!) are the stars of the show, but we all know that the finished iPhone 4G/HD is lurking behind the curtains. More »

Today’s white back cover iPhone 4G/HD prototype leak completes the Hong Kong white front cover leak in May. Renowned independent Apple repair center PowerBook Medic was sent the photographs from an undisclosed source. More »

In a live interview at D8 with Walt Mossberg, Steve Jobs had some juicy things to say about the whole Gizmodo/Brian J Hogan/Jason Chen iPhone 4G/HD prototype scandal. Initially, Jobs said that the affair was an “ongoing investigation,” but he went on to tell his side of the story, which he called “amazing.” More »

SuperiPhone from the Czech Republic claims to have put the iPhone 4G/HD display under a microscope and to have confirmed earlier rumors that the upcoming iPhone will have a high-resolution 960×640 IPS LCD, technology that is similar to the iPad and the iMac. More »

From time to time, depending on his mood, Apple’s CEO will throw his fans (and even his detractors) a bone. Regarding an e-mail inquiry about what Apple will do at WWDC to answer Google’s Android 2.2 FroYo hoopla, within 15 minutes, Steve Jobs replies succinctly, “You won’t be disappointed.” More »

These iPhone 4G/HD prototype leaks are becoming comical. A company that was once so adept at maintaining secrecy of its top products cannot keep its biggest star under wraps. A Hong Kong website has photographs of both a black and a white iPhone 4G, which looks fake. More »

Before the company that actually designs and owns the product can even make an official announcement about it, everyone else has already had a say regarding the iPhone 4G/HD, which is definitely going to be shown at WWDC 10. Two Chinese manufacturers have made products for the unreleased phone: iridescent rubber/plastic cases and replacement front covers in black/white. Were these skins constructed long ago with information from Apple, or is this an example of how illegal leaks from Gizmodo and Tinhte can provide unauthorized profiteering off trade secrets? Regarding the front covers, they cannot be legal. More »

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Dan Schulman of Sprint has conceded what everyone knows, that the Palm Pre has failed to live up to expectations. Sprint CFO Robert Brust says that his company would “love” to carry the iPhone, but unfortunately, there is no contract in place to do so. Brust’s statement should dispel the notion that the 10 million CDMA iPhones that Apple has allegedly ordered are going anywhere near Sprint, yet Verizon iPhone rumors persist despite Ivan Seidenberg’s (Verizon CEO) statement that he did not know whether his company was getting the coveted phone. If the Chief of Verizon is unaware, how do these reporters know? More »

The LG and Prime View International displays are said to include FFS (fringe-field switching) for easier readability under sunlight. More »
