Not only is Sin City forever known to me as a place most sacred in my heart of hearts, it’s also the home of the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show. CES, for short. Set to happen Jan 7-10, this year’s CES show is boasting a record number of tech exhibitors: 2,500 exhibitors showcasing all their latest wares for 2010! Makes me wonder — is three days even enough? Is it possible to visit every exhibitor? More »

For anyone living in New York City in need of an iPhone right this instant, as in…right now, you’re out of luck. If you’re trying to get it from AT&T online, at least. According to Engadget, AT&T is not offering any reasons why they’re not selling the iPhone online. Aside from telling people the iPhone’s disappearance from AT&T online is the result of credit card fraud causing a ban on online sales, customer service reps aren’t being much of a help. More »

While some of these gadgets certainly were not released in 2009, they still, without a doubt, ruled 2009. Here are my picks, in no particular order, for the top ten gadgets of 2009: More »

Pretty much everyone expects Apple to announce its long awaited tablet sometime in the first quarter of 2010, yet most of the device’s details are still shrouded in secrecy. Optimists expect advanced technologies like OLED, a solid-state flash drive, and an affordable price tag; others think that the tablet will be overpriced and barely more capable than an iPhone. Here is my realistic wish list for the Apple tablet: More »

Gone are the days of embarrassing texting accidents! They’re gone especially if you’re an iPhone user with the Type n’ Walk application. Type n’ Walk enables users to see where they are going while they text. The app displays a transparent viewport of what’s directly in front of you! Combined with your peripheral vision, this app is just enough visual information to help you avoid obstacles. Or, you can use it hide the fact that you’re spying on your surroundings even if you’re sitting or just standing. More »

The iPhone is an excellent smartphone, leader of the pack, ruling the market as a matter of fact but with Apple lacking in design upgrades, it’s starting to become a little bland to Apple users. So, because we techies are thinking far ahead to June of 2010, we’ve already began planning the new iPhone 4G. Rumors have been swirling (not online this time, surprisingly) that Apple is going to hook up with Verizon instead of AT&T this time, which means that an overhaul in design is in the works. More »

A while ago, here on ZiggyTek, we talked about exploding iPhones and how they were popping up all over the world. Well, it had seemed to stop for a while, until today when a iPhone mysteriously blew up. The iPhone was being used as a music source at a party when it suddenly exploded, filling the room with smoke. The Wii and the iPhone came together a few weeks back, allowing certain games to be controlled on the iPhone using it’s built in Bluetooth support (which came after upgraded OS 3.0). This was all part of the “BTStack” project which was built to use the iPhone’s bluetooth in order to perform actions with MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) that it cannot do, under Apple’s tent of course. ZodTTD is the one who is famous for his jailbreak community, designing this amazing software, extending the iPhone’s features by an amazing stretch. More »

The iPhone has many many clones around the world, but I’ve never seen one that steals app design, back cover design, and even adds a full fledged QWERTY keyboard. Now, this is one cool iPhone clone. Dubbed with a horrible name, the Cooli902, the “fat” iPhone clone carries a full slide-out keyboard, dual cameras, Java support, WiFi, and an analog TV tuner (Sorry, US residents, we’ve gone digital). So, this clone pretty much carries all of the features that the iPhone doesn’t have yet, excluding WiFi capabilities. The Cooli902 can play many file types, from standard MP3 to, MP4, 3GP and AVI video files. More »

From Wirebot:

So I only thought Black Friday deals could happen in stores like Wal-mart, Best Buy, Newegg, or places like that…but I was wrong! This year, Gameloft, a big game app maker in the Apple App store world, has quite a few of its games that are normally pricey, all for less than a dollar! If you’re like me and never buy anything more than 3$ or so, you’ll know what I mean by a Gameloft game. They have the reputation of always starting at $9.99, ending up at $4.99, and never budging. Gameloft extends its holiday More »

I’ve always been a proponent of the latest technology and am usually one of the first to buy a gadget when it’s first released. It’s just how I am and believe that some gadgets make things easier for us. In the past few years, smartphones have been that gadget. While many are still getting used to using a smartphone (my parents and cousins still don’t know how to use one), they’re extremely useful once you get the hang of it.

Take for example the new influx of apps across every smartphone operating system. Apps are designed to make the user experience easier and lately it seems like it’s made it so easy, using the version on my computer’s browser has become confusing.

The one app I’m going to use as an example is the new Facebook app for the iPhone, Android and other platforms (it sucks on WebOS but that’s another story). The app is extremely simple to use and gets you the info you want right away, without multiple clicks. It’s become so easy to use, I’ve preferred the Facebook app on my iPhone over the website on my browser. Here’s why. More »

Every time I mention an Apple product to someone, I get labeled an Apple fanboy. Funny thing is while I like Apples products, I’d be the first one to agree with the limit on Apple products and Apple’s controlling ways. I like the products because they work with the least amount of problems.

The iPhone isn’t the greatest smartphone in the world but it’s the one that works well for me. Same thing with my iMac and MacBook Air. I’m loyal to the apple brand not because I think everything they throw out there is the beat thing in the world but because the brand has worked well for me in the past and continues to work well for me now.

Is there a gadget brand that you are loyal to? If so, why are you loyal to them?

Whenever I have a chat with friends who own iPhones and iPods, they alway complain about why Apple hasn’t added certain features and why AT&T is the only network on the iPhone. Well, instead of telling each person individually, I’ve decided to write a post so I can not only inform them but readers of ZiggyTek as well. In this post, we’ll explain why Apple waits to integrate pariticular features into their devices and why they are still locked in with AT&T. More »

Well, well, well, looks like Apple is jumping in on the war against Verizon as well. Apple will be releasing two new ads starting tonight, that show off its ability to browse the web and talk at the same time, something that’s not allowed on almost every Verizon phone. This is a response to the “iDon’t” ads released by Verizon for the Droid, highlighting the things the iPhone is incapable of doing. With Apple firing back, Verizon is getting attacked from two sides, with AT&T doing its own thing to fight Verizon’s latest “there’s a map for that” ad.

If you haven’t ignored your television commercials lately, you’ve most likely come across Verizon ads that point out Apple’s lack of 3G coverage in parts of the US. Verizon even went as far as releasing an ad making fun of AT&T’s coverage crippling the iPhone (check it out after the break).

Well, AT&T didn’t sit back and take it. AT&T filed a lawsuit against Verizon for the “there’s a map for that” and then started new ads starring Luke Wilson, that are supposed to convince America that AT&T doesn’t have the shoddy coverage that Verizon claims. So, will it stop soon or will it continue till one of them gets fed up? With AT&T coming out with new ads, this may go on for some time. (check out the ads after the break) More »
