Facing pressure from various media outlets, the DA has unsealed the affidavit for the police raid on Gizmodo’s editor. The court documents reveal that Steve Jobs personally called the blog to “request” the phone back, that Apple instigated the police investigation, that Gizmodo permanently damaged the prototype when it tore the phone to pieces, and that the sellers allegedly knew what they were doing and attempted to hide their identities. Apple is leaking iPhone 4G/HD prototypes everywhere, on two different continents. Vietnamese members from Taoviet first posted pictures of the latest iPhone prototype, which Tinhte then videotaped (tape?) and photographed some more. Afterward, Photoshopped images of the phone running iPhone OS 4 appeared. More »

From the same Digitimes that reported about Pegatron Technologies‘ alleged CDMA iPhone 4G/HD contract comes today’s delicious rumor that Apple has ordered 10,000,000 CDMA iPhone units for the remainder of the year. More »

From Htcyou: Who did not see this coming? In an industry rife with court battles, no one should be shocked to hear that HTC, which was sued by Apple in March, countered with a lawsuit of its own yesterday, naming 5 specific patent violations. HTC has requested that there be an embargo imposed on all importation of iPod, iPad, and iPhone devices, which are manufactured in Asia. More »

Foxconn had been the iPhone manufacturer and currently makes parts for many Apple devices like the iPod. Digitimes writes that Pegatron Technologies has replaced Foxconn as the builder of the CDMA iPhone 4G/HD. More »

From Htcyou: For the first time since its unveiling last year, Android has outsold the iPhone during a fiscal quarter. Android handsets captured 28% of the market, while the iPhone was third with 21%. Both trail BlackBerry’s 36% lead. However, these numbers must be kept in perspective: the iPhone 3GS is an EOL (End of Life) product that has been severely affected by the Gizmodo leak; there are only two iPhone models available, and one network carries them, while several prominent Android smartphones have launched in Q1, including the Motorola Devour and Google Nexus One. So the iPhone, under the original terms, is still contracted to be an AT&T only phone until 2012. Court documents reveal that back in 2007, Apple and AT&T signed the deal, but what is not known is if the contract has since been amended. More »

From Htcyou: David Wong’s Android hack allows Google’s open source smartphone operating system to be installed on Apple’s iPhone 2G (1.8 million YouTube views and counting!). Now, the ROM has been ported over to work on the iPhone 3G too. Could the iPad be next? More »

The Spirit untethered jailbreak for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch has been released to the globe, so start busting out of Apple’s prison, nerds! More »

Most of Apple’s designs are drool-worthy. Even the masses are captivated by their looks –yet no one would want to eat an iPhone…until now. iChocolates are handmade, organic, gourmet chocolates fashioned after iPhone apps. Regrettably, the boxes of candy have sold out, but iChocolate Paris should make another batch. More »

“Finders keepers, losers weepers,” right? As it turns out, the finder might be the one crying in the Apple iPhone prototype scandal. 21-year-old Brian J. Hogan has been named as the discoverer of the lost device. His lawyer states that Gizmodo cajoled him into selling the unit, reassuring him “that there was nothing wrong in sharing the phone with the tech press.” Hogan’s story is that he thought he was selling the phone for Gizmodo to review, but Jason Chen instead proceeded to perform disective surgery on the invaluable prototype. Have you visited Gizmodo lately? For the sake of your intelligence, I suggest that you do not, but since it is my job, I have to. That website has always been Apple-centric (in many ways, so is Ziggytek!), but these past few weeks, it has gone overboard and beyond redemption. The blog is now an Apple operation –except it is unauthorized, just like the stolen iPhone teardown. More »

The whole iPhone 4G prototype affair is not comedic for Gary Powell and Apple. Hopefully, soon it will not be funny for Gizmodo either. In the meantime, enjoy some levity from David Letterman’s long running Top 10 list of excuses that Powell can use for losing his iPhone. More »

From Htcyou: No iPhone owner should be limited to just the admittedly great iPhone OS, and now, they do not have to be. Canadian hacker David Wong has installed Android on his iPhone 2G. Revel in wicked iPhone multi-touch accuracy but with Android OS! More »
