Steve Jobs boasted about the iPhone 4’s IPS “Retina Display” and made it one of the new device’s pillars. His claims that the 960×640 LCD’s 326 pixels per inch (PPI) make the display’s pixels invisible to the naked eye when viewed from 12 inches away has come under fire from certain critics, but Phil Plait, who has calibrated a camera on the Hubble Telescope, demonstrates that Apple’s claims are factual. Beginning June, shortly after or at WWDC on the 7th, Apple is reportedly going to ship 24 million iPhone 4G/HD units before the end of the year. Foxconn is supposed to be the manufacturer that is building the new iPhone with IPS panels at 960×640 resolution.
