With the recent death of Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs, many have taken their creativity to pay tribute to all the work he has accomplished and influenced in his life. One group by the name of Mint Foundry, has created the wonder you see above. And in a fitting fashion, the peculiar portrait was actually created out of a disassembled MacBook Pro. More »

Remember that 3G prototype MacBook Pro from a couple days ago? Despite it’s slightly unappealing looks, it seems Apple fans on its eBay listing are going crazy over it. Enough to reach an astonishing $70,000 (…the cheapest and regular MacBook Pro is about $1,199) bid before Apple decided to step in and block the auction. More »

Last week, Lenovo CEO Liu Chuanzhi remarked that he was pleased that Apple was ignoring the Chinese market because the Cupertino company’s presence in that nation would jeopardize Lenovo’s strong revenue. Recently, an Apple Store was opened in Shanghai that attracted large crowds. More »

Also, the 13″ MacBook Pro’s GeForce 320M is a custom integrated graphics chip designed by NVIDIA specifically for Apple. The main reason why the 13″ model retains Core 2 Duo processors and does not get the Core i5 is because of NVIDIA’s ongoing legal battle with Intel, whose newest chipsets require that integrated graphics be Intel only; therefore, Apple either had to downgrade the 13″ MacBook Pro’s graphics by using an i5 CPU and Intel GPU or keep the old Core 2 Duo chipset and NVIDIA’s far speedier 320M. Since I do not play games on my MacBook, I would have preferred an i5 with Intel graphics, but Apple’s compromise is ideal for decent gaming. More »

“Better late than never,” Apple has finally wrestled enough Core i processors from Intel to put into the 15″ and 17″ MacBook Pro models, which feature a 2010 CPU (at long last!) and a host of other upgrades and options. Sadly, the 13″ was left behind with Core 2 Duo speed bumps, but it does come with the NVIDIA 320M, 4Gb RAM, and much longer battery life. More »

Judging by how many people run Hackintosh on their MSI Wind, I know that there is an untapped market for an Apple netbook. A Chinese knock-off is happy to oblige. Equipped with an Intel Atom CPU and NVIDIA Ion2 graphics, this MacBook Pro clone could satisfy your netbook wants. More »

Everyone knows that Arrandale chips are on the verge of appearing inside MacBook Pro models but when? Most mid-range notebooks from other manufacturers have had Core i3, i5, and i7 CPUs for over a month, and some now even have quad-core i7s. Intel is in short supply of these mobile processors, as apparently, Acer and other important clients have appropriated most of them. Surely, Apple is an “important” Intel patron, right? More »

One would think that in this sluggish economy, premium computer makers like Apple would languish, yet Jobs’ company posted its record best year. Not only did Apple gain market share in the under $1,000 PC price range, consumers who bought a computer over $1,000 overwhelmingly chose a Mac. With the iPad, in 2010, Apple is attempting to cut into the sub-$500 sector too. More »

Contrary to the TV advertisements, your Mac was just a plain Mac and not really a PC after all, at least not a Windows 7 PC, until Tuesday when Apple officially made Bootcamp 3.1 available for download. Nearly all Intel Macs are now capable of running 32-bit or 64-bit versions of Windows 7. The former is a 381Mb package, while the latter is 275Mb. I choose 64-bit. More »
