In a minor tragedy for gadgetry, Microsoft has officially put the Courier tablet on indefinite hold, stating that it has “no plans to build such a device at this time.” It was too good to be true. From Htcyou: Microsoft’s Courier concept is, in my opinion, the ultimate dual-screen tablet, but the enTourage eDGe is the only American one in production. LiSeng from China is showing a similar type of device that it calls the Vbook, sporting two 5″ screens, one of which is E-Ink and the other LCD. Microsoft beat Apple to the race and presented its Courier awhile back, but most of the media still focused on Apple’s January 27th event, when the iPad was eventually demonstrated. Despite the ambivalent reception from observers, Apple stocks rose 8 points yesterday when it informed the public of the iPad’s ship date. I, for one, am far more intrigued by what Microsoft has in the pipes than Apple, even though I am a firm devotee to the latter. More »

The rumored Apple tablet will be getting a lot of competition from Microsoft’s new Courier tablet PC, if it should ever get released. In the video from Gizmodo (also after the break), you can see all of the features of the new double screened courier tablet and how each of them operates.

The leaked video also focuses on one of the main features of the Courier, the “infinite journal”. The infinite journal is a note taking app that is essentially endless and which resembles that of the iPhone notetaking app. You can type and add as much information as you can onto the device and it will be able to store it, allowing the user to later publish it straight to a site or a PowerPoint.
