Pretty much everyone expects Apple to announce its long awaited tablet sometime in the first quarter of 2010, yet most of the device’s details are still shrouded in secrecy. Optimists expect advanced technologies like OLED, a solid-state flash drive, and an affordable price tag; others think that the tablet will be overpriced and barely more capable than an iPhone. Here is my realistic wish list for the Apple tablet: More »

Before you spend $300-400 or more for a premium netbook featuring a current single-core Intel Atom CPU, I suggest that you wait until Q1 2010, when Intel’s upcoming Atom refreshes will start appearing in newer, faster netbooks. Just because you do not expect a netbook to be a workstation, it does not mean that you should settle for what all current Atom based netbooks are –which, to me, are nothing more than glorified smart-phones with larger screens. According to core77’s case study of laptop/netbook use positions, a majority of them spell out pain in your future with a capital ‘P.’ The image pictured with red spots illustrates all the positions where pain is likely to form as a result of RSI, or repetitive strain injury. In short, RSI is basically pain that comes from you being in the same position for long periods of time. More »
Acer, the people who brought us excellent netbooks, are now planning to introduce the Chrome OS in their upcoming netbooks, starting in mid-2010. While that’s a long way off, it’s a sign that Microsoft is already starting to get competition in the netbook department and they have a lot to worry about.
Acer is planning to become the first netbook manufacturer to do this and most likely won’t be the last. From what we’ve seen in the Chrome OS, it’s perfect for netbooks and low powered machines. Chrome OS will be a viable alternative for many PC fans as the cost of netbooks will be lowered due to Manufacturer’s no longer having to pay Microsoft a Windows tax.
Can’t wait for some of the other manufacturers to join in and give MS some competition.

LG threw themselves back in the game. Wondering how? Well, it seems that LG has been working it’s butt off, trying to create their latest release and it definitely is cathing the eye of techies all around. Today, LG released their X120 Netbook that gives users a shortcut to multiple applications and with a Smart On interface. The computer’s UI was designed to start up in a matter of seconds, beating out desktop PCs and even Mac. The X120 is a very light netbook, topping out at only 2.8 pounds. More »
The price of Nokia’s entry into the netbook market has been revealed at its exclusive retailer, Best Buy. Based on a screenshot of Best Buy’s internal inventory management system, the Booklet 3G is going to tip the scale at $599.
That is a lot of dough for what in reality is a regular netbook with a fancy metal enclosure and a Nokia badge on it. I’m thinking this price is a result of Best Buy’s usual humongous markup; and hopefully once the Booklet 3G is available elsewhere, the price will be substantially lower.

Check out the new promo video for the Nokia Booklet 3G. It doesn’t do much to make me want to go buy it. Here are the specs:
- Intel Atom - 120GB HDD - 1GB of RAM - WiFi - HDMI - 3G Guess how much Nokia wants for this Netbook? An astronomical price of $853 for a netbook. And we thought Apple had a tax. I’m in need of a portable netbook like device but I think I’ll just wait till Apple released their tablet. (Video after the break) More »
Sharp has been hiding in the shadows while Sony, Apple, and other tech giants have been taking the lead with their announcements and snazzy new products. Well, Sharp is trying to make it back into the spotlight with their new MID NetWalker PC-Z1 Netbook, which is a rather small and portable version of what looks like standard netbook.
The Netwalker features a 1024×600 pixel display, an 800 MHz Freescale chip, 4GB of flash storage, and 512 MB of RAM. Performance wise, the Sharp MID Netwalker Netbook is feeble and can’t stand up to the performance of machines from Asus and MSI. The Netwalker has a real QWERTY keyboard and is very pocket friendly. Whats amazing about this device is that it has a 10 hour battery life and 3 second start up time. This will likely put Sharp back in the game. A price around $500 is expected for this device. More »
