How would Nintendo’s humble plumber mascot feel about his console in bejeweled form for £300k? Mario Luigi would probably be tripping worse than when powered up on magic mushrooms. More »

If Sony’s live GDC presentation is any indication, the Playstation Move appears to be as technically accurate as hyped, but parents all across the world are shielding their children’s eyes from it. More »

Millions are using Nintendo’s Wii as an exercise machine, but some are not careful enough. Probably due to the sheer number of owners, there are bound to be injuries. Reported Wii related accidents have led to sprains, broken bones, pulled muscles, dislocations, and even head traumas. More »

If you follow my posts, you may be beginning to sense a theme. I love finding ways in which video games help people (largely because I’m sick of nay-sayers who claim that video games are inherently bad… but let’s not get into a philosophical discussion here). Yet again, video games are proving to be helpful: a group of students from Singapore Polytechnic are creating video games to help people who have suffer . More »
Looks like Nintendo is up to something. Nintendo’s two biggest manufacturer’s, Mitsumi and Hosiden, are seeing orders drop for the Nintendo Wiis. This could simply mean that we’ll be seeing upgraded Wiis in the near future.
Nintendo has to update the Wii sometime soon. The software on the Wii is getting ancient while the games continue to bring in people of all ages. In order to compete in the HD world that we live in today, Nintendo will have to upgrade their graphics on the console to provide HD video. Without an HD Wii, not many will be buying the new console. If Nintendo comes out with an HD version of their Wii system, they can rake in money like they did when the Wii was first released. More »

Square Enix company head, Yoichi Wada believes that both Sony and Microsoft are not as successful as the Wii since both game systems extend their features at a reasonable pace instead of going all out on one device. Wada also believes both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 have similar games and could get up to the level of the Wii if they produce more interesting and interactive games, although motion control games are very hard to design.
The Wii still has a lot more room for improvement and in a few years, it should reach its perfection with wireless commands. This is what is holding back the Wii from taking control of the gaming market, and the fact that it is not yet offered in HD. When the Nintendo Wii gets HD and hits the level of the PS3 and Xbox 360, then you can truly compare the three. Until then, Yoichi Wada’s comment doesn’t really matter when comparing the three consoles.

The Wiimote is an amazing creation and along with its creation, come the games designed for it, but adding extra accessories to your Wiimote won’t make you perform this way in real life. Take the newly released Louisville Slugger Wii bat for example, it won’t make you any better at baseball but what it will teach you is frivolous spending.
It is completely useless, so every time you swing with it, you’ll hate yourself for wasting money on it. The officially licensed Slugger bat will cost you $15, your morals, and probably someone’s head.

The Playstation 3 Motion Controller is real! The finalized version looks like the only other motion controller out in the market, the Wiimote. Yup, Sony has decided to go with something that’s familiar and people can easily recognize.
The Motion Controller comes with buttons on top with a trigger button at the bottom , a lithium-ion battery, accelermeter, and the rumble technology found in DualShock controllers. There’s also a big ball at the end of it, which is what the Playstation Eye camera tracks for movement. I have to say that, that ball at the end of it just looks stupid and makees the Wiimote look so much better. Either way, I’m still looking forward to the motion controller and hoping it works as well as the Wiimote. More »
There are reports today that the Nintendo might be releasing an HD version of their popular Wii gaming console by 2011. While HD is the next generation of gaming and video content, the Wii has been the best selling console in the last two years without HD capability. The news comes from Yoichi Wada, president of Square Enix, Japan’s biggest gaming house. An HD Wii is inevitable but is 2011 too early? Sales of the Wii suggest that gamers are not looking for an HD version of the gaming console just yet. Nintendo, like most gaming companies, can go through the cycle of releasing new colors, add-ons and lowering prices to stay ahead in console sales.
If the HD version were to be released in 2011, I’d be all for it. One of the reasons for it is because many of the games on the Wii can’t be enjoyed in standard definition. Imagine playing Halo 3 in standard definition, or playing Madden 2010 on the Wii. What’s the point of buying the 2010 version on the Wii, just play any generic football game. The benefit of playing many of these games is to take advantage of the high definition capability, anything less would be pointless. More »
The Wii is finally getting a price cut according to a Toys R Us ad. The Nintendo Wii is going to drop to $199.99. It’s been three years since the Nintendo Wii has been out and It’s about time the Wii got the damn price cut!

For once the North American folks don’t get shafted again by Nintendo. Nintendo is set to make the Black Wiimote available this holiday season with a black Wii Jacket and a standalone black Nunchuck. I wish they were also rolling out a Black Wii but can’t hope for too much these days.
Nintendo is also rolling out two new colors for the Nintendo DSi, pink and white. Looks like Nintendo is finally giving us North American folks a much needed color change, especially for the, now very dull looking white Wiimotes. More »
Take a look at this funny comparison between the Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation 3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360. (Click More here to see full size pic). According to a Japanese game show, the PS3 is a Formula 1 (F1) rac car, limited in terms of features, but fast. The Wii is portrayed as a mini feeble Go Kart which is the lowest of them all but extremely fun. Of course, they portray the Xbox 360 as a fancy sports car that is packed with features but with high cost problems waiting under the problem? The show might need to change the PS 3 after the release of the Slim. Take a look for yourself, you’ll get a chuckle oout of it. More »
