When HP bought out Palm, it signaled the end of the 8.9-inch HP Slate that was based on Windows 7. HP realized that a successful tablet had to follow the iPad, and that means running an operating system, which is more appropriate. More »

HP finally emerged from the Palm sweepstakes and paid $1.2 billion for the buy-out. According to the press release, Jon Rubinstein and many of the key executives will remain in position after the HP takeover, and Engadget states that Palm’s hardware roadmap remains unchanged for the present.
