Set to start shipping sometime later this quarter, the Sony Ericsson Vivaz is a phone that stands out from all the Android buzz that has been going on lately. With all the focus on smartphones lately, it looks like Sony is still appealing to users that just want to use their phones for other things. More »

Looks like Sony Ericsson is continuing its “green” crusade by introducing its new business line mobile device called the “Aspen.” Available in Q2 of this year, the housing of the Aspen is made of recycled plastics with a build that is lead-free. It also comes with an e-manual to cut paper use. This is all part of Sony Ericsson’s “GreenHeart” campaign. More »

Okay, so it looks like a piece of artwork, right? Wrong. Microsoft has developed a new kind of “bar code” that will be compatible with almost all camera phones. It’s called a “tag.” These small graphics function as physical hyperlinks and are accessed by taking a picture of them with your phone. More »

We take a lot of things for granted. Sight, touch, smell, taste, and hearing. Ever wonder how a deaf person uses a phone? Well, they probably don’t, but that could very well change in the next couple years. More »

The Consumer Electronics Show is like a circus. Some of the stuff you could really go for, and some other stuff you could do without. I’m labeling this concept model by Chinese designer Daizi Zheng a “dud.” Here’s what Zheng had to say about his invention: More »

At a recent company event, employees received a free Nexus One device. It has been rumored for quite awhile that Google has been planning on releasing its own phone; the Google phone. “Katie Watson, a Google representative, said on Sunday that the company has confirmed nothing about its plans for the Nexus One, described as a “dogfooding” experiment for internal testing by the company in a blog post Saturday” (CNN.com). This, my fellow techies is the new Sharp 941SH phone, a genius piece of tech with an amazingly sharp resolution. See, the iPhone has only 480×320 pixels while the new Sharp 941SH holds a staggering 480×1024, on only a 4inch screen. The iPhone’s 3.5 inch screen can’t hold even half of the pixels that this phone has (over 700 more). More »

The guys over at Akihabara News snapped some photos of concept phones at Fujitsu’s Booth in this year’s CEATEC (Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies). The one pictured above is the KORA bracelet PC phone.

My particular favorite was the pen phone. It has a real Dick Tracy detective/spy feel to it. Too bad they are all concepts. I wouldn’t mind having a phone shaped like a soap dish. Go check out the whole gallery of photos.

Sony wants to join the smartphone/gaming party and is planning to do it with a Playstation Phone or so that’s what we’re hearing. Gizmodo has sources that say Sony is working on a “combination cellphone/game system for nearly a year.” More »

Although I’ve been a loyal Palm user for two years (Treo 680), it took me less than a month to get sick of its interface and OS. So, why even bother? For one, at the time it had the largest library of smartphone apps, and secondly, it was easy to install app launchers (which made the interface bearable) and it provided a lot of leeway for customization.
