Competition in motion control gaming is waxing hot with Microsoft’s Natal and Sony’s Playstation Move about to vie against Nintendo’s Wii. The Playstation Move ad is shot in the same fashion as other recent PS3 commercials, teeming with attempts at humor and sarcasm. Whether it is funny or not is for you to decide. More »

Stuart Hughes’ jewelry piece, the PS3 SUPREME is the world’s most expensive Playstation 3 at £199,995 ($320,000 USD). Please be cautious when inserting Blu-Ray discs into the drive because the 58 diamonds totaling 26 carats mounted on either side of the load-in slot might scratch them. More »

At Game Developers Conference, Sony demonstrated its Nintendo Wii challenger, the Playstation Move controller, which is touted as much more accurate than the Wii nun-chuck and is targeted at hardcore rather than casual gamers. Sony says that the device will be out in the fall and should be in the $100 range for a full starter kit that includes the Eye camera and a game. More »

I have sat back and watched the Console Wars go on for quite a long time. Not just the nextgen Console Wars but wars that erupted ever since there became more than one system on the scene. Fanboys and Fangirls might be offended by this article because I won’t be giving their specific system of choice the tender loving care it deserves. I could drag on for hours and hours about which system does what and weigh the checks and balances and formulate an opinion on what system you should buy based off of those findings but I’m not going to. What I’m going to do is try to open everyone’s eyes to something I discovered a long time ago. More »

Famed hacker, George Hotz has cracked Sony’s PS3 –no mean feat considering that no one has been able to hack its copyright protection up until now. Geohot is responsible for hacking iPhone 3.1 as well. More »

Just because I’ve been absent from posts for a short period of time, it doesn’t mean that I’ve stopped thinking about my favorite pastime anymore than I did before I jumped off for a bit of a break. I’ve spent days sitting on this crazy topic, and after a pretty interesting article that ran this morning over on CNN, I figured it was time to share this crazy tidbit of information with all of you.
“BCI“, or “Brain-Computer Interfaces“, is the name of this wondrous innovation that is steadily bobbing its way out into the mainstream, and not just because of the potential this technology has for the handicapped, but for society in general. More »

Making the change from a trusted and cost effective medium to a new and much more expensive form of video storage is not something alot of people are thinking of with the state of things economically. With Blu-ray players finally coming down in price, it looks like we’re going to see some pretty interesting incentives from companies to get consumers to make that change. More »

We are coming close to 2010, which is promising to be a “Golden” year for gaming, with new technologies (example. Microsoft Natal) and innovations making their way to release. I’ve always considered myself a bit of pessimist, so forgive me if I sit over here on the other side of my computer fake sneezing and screaming “bull$h17!” at the top of my lungs. More »
As we’ve all heard, Netflix has finally arrived to the PlayStation 3. While this is great news, iPhone users are still in the dark about whether or not Netflix is looking into mobile streaming. Earlier last month, Netflix CEO, Reed Hastings reported that Netflix was currently focusing on game consoles, and that iPhone streaming was further down on the list of priorities. The PS3 streaming, set to arrive next month, makes us question if Mobile Netflix is arriving anytime soon. More »
Square Enix company head, Yoichi Wada believes that both Sony and Microsoft are not as successful as the Wii since both game systems extend their features at a reasonable pace instead of going all out on one device. Wada also believes both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 have similar games and could get up to the level of the Wii if they produce more interesting and interactive games, although motion control games are very hard to design.
The Wii still has a lot more room for improvement and in a few years, it should reach its perfection with wireless commands. This is what is holding back the Wii from taking control of the gaming market, and the fact that it is not yet offered in HD. When the Nintendo Wii gets HD and hits the level of the PS3 and Xbox 360, then you can truly compare the three. Until then, Yoichi Wada’s comment doesn’t really matter when comparing the three consoles.

The Playstation 3 Motion Controller is real! The finalized version looks like the only other motion controller out in the market, the Wiimote. Yup, Sony has decided to go with something that’s familiar and people can easily recognize.
The Motion Controller comes with buttons on top with a trigger button at the bottom , a lithium-ion battery, accelermeter, and the rumble technology found in DualShock controllers. There’s also a big ball at the end of it, which is what the Playstation Eye camera tracks for movement. I have to say that, that ball at the end of it just looks stupid and makees the Wiimote look so much better. Either way, I’m still looking forward to the motion controller and hoping it works as well as the Wiimote. More »
