NEC is famous for its retro gaming controllers but now they’ve come out with something that is likely to be a big hit in the tech world. Just yesterday, NEC opened the lid on their latest project, the first remote control that runs without batteries. Working alongside Soundpower Corp., NEC has managed to create a vibration based power generating device, built into the remote. The power generating device is connected to a microcomputer and a power supply controller which gets the circuits close enough to generate a small amount of power on even the slightest amount of electricity. Genius? Probably not but now you can dance your way through TV channels. Obviously it works just like a DDR pad where you press/step on an arrow/button to control the TV. Simple enough; however, this idea has yet to be put to mass production. More »
