Back in 2006, a video was uploaded to Google Video that depicted several school kids harassing and bullying an autistic classmate. Hours later, the Italian police notified Google of this video, and the search-engine giant immediately took it down. Google then worked with the Italian police to find out who uploaded the video, and that person and several other classmates involved were sentenced to ten months of community service. The story, however, does not end there. More »

Microsoft and Yahoo announced on Thursday that they’re getting married! Well… not literally. The two companies are coming together in an attempt to rival search-engine giant Google. More »

In a recent statement by Google co-founder Sergey Brin, it was said that the company remains “optimistic” in light of the recent hacking attempts at the Google network by a group from China. “I’m an optimist. I want to find a way to work within the Chinese system and provide more and better information…I think a lot of people think I’m naive, and that may be true.” More »

Relations between Google and China have recently been driven to the breaking point, with the search-engine giant threatening to close down its doors in China. In the midst of all this, it looks like a pseudo-Google (谷歌)site has arisen called Goojje (谷姐). More »
Yesterday, the New York Times ran an article that may end up being a watershed moment in online history. According to the report, Microsoft is hoping to create an alliance with News Corp, one of the biggest news conglomerates in the world, to remove news links from Google and bring them over to Bing.

Google is the new age dictionary. Subconsciously, we use Google to look up the things that people are too lazy to actually search for. Think about it, Google is everywhere. Google is probably your home page and its always in the corner tab on your web browser, although you can switch it to other search engines likes Yahoo!.
Google is the first place most people go to look things up. However, its slowly becoming a problem these days, especially when it comes to spelling and grammar. Whenever a word is misspelled, we can turn to Google to correct it for us. This is why Google is such a big issue in our generation, because it does all of the things we need it to do, from spelling to calculating to converting our math problems, it’s making us lazy. This has led our generation to believe that the best way to find things is to direct search it, which goes to show how much Google is really ingrained in our brains. More »
Has anyone noticed that Google changed their font on their search page? I was surprised to the 20pt font when I’m so accustomed to seeing the 14pt font. At first, I thought something happened to my browser (Firefox has been acting up lately), but after seeing the same change in Safari, I figured it was all Google or they were testing something. A few days later,it looks like the new font size is here to stay.
Personally I prefer the 14pt font over the 20 and think Google should revert back. I guess if many don’t complain about it, Google won’t change it back.
Have you noticed the change in Google’s font size? Do you like the new 20pt font or prefer the smaller 14pt font?

The deal will allow Microsoft to power Yahoo search, while Yahoo becomes the exclusive sales department for both companies’ online advertising. What does this mean for both companies and how does it benefit each of them? More »
Google has competition, that’s right folks, Cuil.com (pronounced cool) is trying to level itself up with Google and possibly take another shot at the online search engine giant. It had the potential to be great but critics attacked it for its slow and unrelated results.
