From Htcyou: Nielsen has recently done a recent survey, and had figured out that more people nowadays prefer smartphones over featured phones, and those smartphones sold mostly run the Android operating system. More »

Recent surveys have revealed the number 1 reason why smartphone contact lists are lost. And that reason, my friends, is the toilet. More »

Dockem aims to let you mount your favorite gadgets on the wall, in such a way that you can save space and have them in a more appealing and reachable place. Like a miniature “shelf” for your tablet or smartphone, but easier to set up and can be removed without damage to your walls. More »

If you’re a guy, have a smartphone, love to text, and are reading this, please do us a favor: don’t text while you’re going to the bathroom. More »

Smartphone addiction is starting to be a serious problem. Many people admit to waking up at regular intervals to check their email and some even say that they can’t go to sleep without a phone close to them. 40 percent of people who responded to a survey say that they will interrupt a meeting to take a call, and because of smartphones, employers are starting to prefer speed to quality. During December in England and Wales, 46% of smartphone owners said that they were considering a Nokia, but that sinking number has dropped to about 33%. Six months ago, 19% declared that they were going to buy a Nokia as their next smartphone, but today, only 10% are now committed to Symbian. The iPhone is the overwhelming choice among those who responded to YouGov’s poll. More »

From Htcyou: Apple’s iPhone 4 launch will go down as the biggest in cell phone history. Pre-orders topped 600,000 on day one, and to date, Apple has probably sold well over a million units. However, Android smartphone sales are steady and increasing. In fact, 2 Android phones are sold every second of the day. More »

Nokia is also anticipating a massive hit in its global smartphone market share to Google Android handsets and Apple iPhone. Among the four main American carriers, BlackBerry has slipped from the top spot. Sprint’s top seller is the HTC Evo 4G; T-Mobile’s front-runner is the MyTouch 3G Slide; the Droid Incredible and Motorola Droid are kings of Verizon, and the iPhone 4 is obviously AT&T’s darling now. Back in the ’90s, controlling television meant ruling the world. Google owns the internet, so branching out to TV is logical. Google TV works with existing cable networks by way of Google TV televisions (Sony has signed on), Logitech’s Google TV Companion Box, and even Blu-Ray players. More »

From Htcyou: Not just on any Android phone, but the mighty HTC Droid Incredible is the choice to use for previewing Amazon’s Kindle app that is coming in the summer. By which time, your Android smartphone may replace your need for an e-reader. More »

From Htcyou: For the first time since its unveiling last year, Android has outsold the iPhone during a fiscal quarter. Android handsets captured 28% of the market, while the iPhone was third with 21%. Both trail BlackBerry’s 36% lead. However, these numbers must be kept in perspective: the iPhone 3GS is an EOL (End of Life) product that has been severely affected by the Gizmodo leak; there are only two iPhone models available, and one network carries them, while several prominent Android smartphones have launched in Q1, including the Motorola Devour and Google Nexus One. From Htcyou: LG’s newest Android 1.6 smartphone, the Optimus GT540, launched on Saturday in the UK and is powered by old hardware, but that is OK because it is not intended for geeks, but for newbies looking to dabble into smartphones. More »

From Htcyou: In another move that could be (erroneously) construed as anti-Apple, Adobe, as part of its Flash 10.1 for Android development promotion, will be giving its employees free Android 2.1 smartphones –presumably either the Nexus One or Motorola Droid. I would not anticipate that the Droid Incredible is the giveaway phone since it is nearly sold out at vendors, and Google loves to hand out its Nexus One like it is a Tic-Tac. More »

HP finally emerged from the Palm sweepstakes and paid $1.2 billion for the buy-out. According to the press release, Jon Rubinstein and many of the key executives will remain in position after the HP takeover, and Engadget states that Palm’s hardware roadmap remains unchanged for the present. What we will see in the short term are HP branded phones, with webOS netbooks and tablets probably appearing next year. More »
