From Htcyou: MDO, master imitators, did not stop copying HTC with just a Hero clone –the Elite S812 is a myTouch 3G/Dream lookalike but with CDMA bands and a 624MHz Marvell processor. More »

Or at least it is in South Korea. When the Paramount Pictures sequel to the blockbuster Iron Man premiers in South Korea this month, so will LG’s Arena Maxx LU9400 for KT and SK Telecom. Iron Man needs a smartphone that is commensurate with his super-heroism, and the Arena Maxx is (mostly) super. More »

Two new Sharp manufactured phones were announced today by Microsoft. The KIN ONE and KIN TWO smartphones are differentiated from Windows Phone 7 by their simplicity and completely closed system. The KIN series combines smartphone advancements like multi-touch, Silverlight web-browsing, and eye-popping visuals from Zune HD’s interface with a simplified operating system that has no third-party apps, much like standard cell phones. Both CDMA phones are arriving on Verizon’s network in May, with Vodafone getting them in the fall. There is also a GSM version of the KIN ONE that will make the rounds in Europe and Asia. More »

Sunno’s S880 Pro is a higher performance smartphone that has a lot going for it: 1,680 CNY ($246 USD), a 3.6″ 800×480 screen, an 806MHz Marvell processor, and a 5 megapixel camera with flash. Unfortunately, the S880 Pro also runs obsolete Windows Mobile 6.5 and must be imported from China (Americans pay barely any Customs tax so not a big deal). More »

From Htcyou: Droid Dog has since removed the images and information from its post, but John swears that Motorola’s square smartphone with QWERTY slider keypad is “definitely real,” and the story behind the source is almost too lame to make up. More »

From Htcyou: Since it is a slow news day, I thought that I would highlight an inexpensive (equivalent of $278 USD) Chinese Android smartphone that, not coincidentally, resembles the HTC Hero but is thinner at 10.7 mm has a newer 600MHz Qualcomm 7227 processor. More »

From Htcyou: Introducing the world’s first, a 1GHz SnapDragon fueled Android 2.1 smartphone with a full QWERTY keypad –the LG LU2300 (sexy name) is also supposed to integrate a digital TV-tuner and other niceties. More »

It is hardly a secret that netbook profit margins are tiny compared to laptops, smartphones, and other electronics. While manufacturers have sold tens of millions of netbooks over the past few years, they have not seen the sort of monetary returns that these sales figures might indicate. 2010 is a laborious year to move 10-inch netbooks, as specs have increased substantially over last season, and sales have tumbled. Dell and HP are almost ready to pull out of the market entirely. More »

From Htcyou: Digg is going through dramatic changes. TapTapTap has a Digg application for the iPhone/iPad/iTouch. Now, Digg is developing an Android app to facilitate smartphone Digging habits. More »

I have admired Ulysse Nardin timepieces for many years, although I have never owned one (since I personally prefer OMEGA, IWC, Rolex, and Blancpain first), but the Chairman Android smartphone gives me shivers. My philosophy is that I would much rather have a $600 smartphone like the HTC EVO 4G and a $48,900 wristwatch instead of a hybrid like the Chairman, which is shipping this month. Since the Chairman is limited to 1846 copies and is targeted at chairmen, the opinions of commoners like myself do not matter. More »

Last week, the interwebz was replete with rumors that Google was or was planning on sharing Android operating system ad revenue with carriers and smartphone manufacturers. However, Google has contradicted these reports. More »

$200 seems like quite a sum to pay for 32Gb of storage, but when it comes in a package no larger than an average size tooth, the price can be justifiable. Until the weekend, SanDisk is offering a free Blackberry Curve carrying case with the purchase of its new 32Gb microSDHC card. More »

As measured by the FCC, the top 20 cell phones producing the most radiation are replete with Blackberry and Motorola models. More »

A survey by Crowd Science indicates that an alarming number of Blackberry owners “definitely or probably would” switch over to iPhone or Android when they make their next purchases. More »

…because, as Steve Jobs has discovered, they will become your bitterest enemies. In case you did not know, Eric Schmidt was on Apple’s board of directors until August 2009, even though he has been Google CEO since 2001. There was clearly a conflict of interests, as proven by Google’s release of Android OS, which is a direct competitor to the iPhone. More »
