I frequently hear my Apple computer-owning friends complain about their lackluster gaming experiences, but with the new Snow Leopard graphics update, I no longer expect any more whining from them! This update (which will patch Mac OS X 10.6) will result in better performance and playability of popular game titles like Portal and Starcraft II, among others. More »

Ah, the JooJoo Tablet…the dreamer that wanted to change the world but instead fell victim to its own shortcomings and the iPad’s success. One thing that the JooJoo has going for it is its versatility. With some work, Windows 7 can be installed on the slate, and now OS X Snow Leopard can also be crammed into the JooJoo. Here is how… More »

One would think that in this sluggish economy, premium computer makers like Apple would languish, yet Jobs’ company posted its record best year. Not only did Apple gain market share in the under $1,000 PC price range, consumers who bought a computer over $1,000 overwhelmingly chose a Mac. With the iPad, in 2010, Apple is attempting to cut into the sub-$500 sector too. More »

Apple’s iPad will probably be at least somewhat successful, but I have my reservations about its appeal. Personally, I have no need for this e-reader/netbook hybrid, and its shortcomings are quite apparent. Even though I think that it will be a solid seller, to play devil’s advocate, I will propose five major reasons why the iPad should be a failure. More »

DigiTimes is reporting that Apple has already placed large orders for 10″ glass touchscreens from Foxconn’s subsidiary Innolux. A second report from Financial Times suggests that Apple has booked the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (San Francisco) for a Tuesday January 26th event, which could be for the announcement of the highly anticipated Apple Tablet. Steve Jobs recently took the stage at the Yerba Buena Center for Apple’s iPod line-up refresh press conference. More »

Pretty much everyone expects Apple to announce its long awaited tablet sometime in the first quarter of 2010, yet most of the device’s details are still shrouded in secrecy. Optimists expect advanced technologies like OLED, a solid-state flash drive, and an affordable price tag; others think that the tablet will be overpriced and barely more capable than an iPhone. Here is my realistic wish list for the Apple tablet: More »

In comparison tests run by CNET, Mac OS X Snow Leopard was found to be faster that Windows 7 at running common tasks. They ran all the tests on a 2.53Ghz MacBook Pro presumably dual booted with both Windows and Mac. More »

I was one of the early adopters of Snow Leopard. I was the first one at my local Apple store to purchase Apple’s new operating system and I had it installed that same morning. Since then, all I have had are complaints. It is making me start to think that Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard might be Apple’s own Windows Vista or Windows ME. More »

Snow Leopard is hitting store shelves tomorrow and reviews have been piling on from notable tech bloggers. To make your life easier, we’re going to bring them all in one place, so you won’t have to keep searching for different opinions. More »

Walt Mossberg, a well known personal technology blogger for the Wall Street Journal, made a slip up yesterday in his Apple Snow Leopard OS X review. During his review, he gave out this tip:

“But here’s a tip: Apple concedes that the $29 Snow Leopard upgrade will work properly on these Tiger-equipped Macs, so you can save the extra $140.”

Basically he’s telling current Tiger uses, you won’t have to buy Leopard in order to upgrade to Snow Leopard. While it’s a useful tip for many Tiger users, it’s illegal in the minds of Apple. But Walt is not the only one supporting this claim. More »

Apple’s Snow Leopard hasn’t even hit shelves and analysts are already predicting the revenue Mac OS X Snow Leopard will bring in. Of course that’s their job, one I wouldn’t mind having but sometimes they just say the most obvious things. Here’s what the analysts are saying about Snow Leopard, which hits store shelves on Friday.

The 40 million plus install base and with unit sales of up to 5 million (predicted), Snow Leopard will add a revenue of over $66 million to Apple’s quarterly income. Now that’s information I wasn’t aware of and wouldn’t mind hearing. Now let’s get to some of the obvious parts. More »

Apple has officially released Snow Leopard. The wait is over, so if you feel the need to upgrade to the latest Mac OS X software (which you should), then head over to the Apple store and pre-order a copy for yourself. It’ll ship out this Friday. I’ll eventually get the Snow Leopard OS X software but will hold off til they’re in stores. There are three Apple stores in Manhattan, I can easily walk into any one of them and walk out within minutes.

Just saw, what looks like the final retail packaging for Snow Leopard, the latest upgrade to the Mac OS X platform. I’m excited and I don’t even know why. To be honest, I’m perfectly happy with Leopard OS X but Snow Leopard is supposed to be faster, easier to use and have better security. I’m all for those things and can’t beat the price of this upgrade, $29. That’s a bargain compared to what Microsoft is going to be charging their users for the Microsoft 7 upgrade.

The release date for the Snow Leopard has been sketchy. Some sources claim that it’ll be released as soon as this week, while many other say it’ll be available sometime after September. If Apple has the software ready to go, thwy should start shipping. They’ll get more exposure with an early release of Snow Leopard. (hit the break for pics) More »
