Sony announced today, the release of a new eReader, the Sony Daily Edition eReader with 3G wireless service and wireless syncing at the New York Public Library. The new eReader will have updated 3.0 software and a new partnership with the New York Public Library, that will allow readers to borrow ebooks up to 29 days. But the NYPL isn’t the only library that’s offering content. Content from the Chicago Public Library is also available through Overdrive.com.

The Library content is through a new service called Library Finder. You type in your bar code, check out ebooks and sync them to the Sony Reader. It will be both Mac and PC compatible. More »


Remember yesterday J&R posted pics of the upcoming Sony Readers with details, well Sony just made it official today. The official names for the Readers are the Pocket and Touch. The Pocket aka PRS-300, comes with a stylus, 5-inch screen, USB 2.0 and 512 MB internal memory. The Pocket will also be available in blue, silver and rose. More »
