From Htcyou: Some statistics have arrived from the Android Developers website recently, showing the latest Android distribution report regarding the devices that have accessed the Android Market as well as the version of OS they run on. From Htcyou: It’s been a great year for Android. Despite some HTC bans here and there and some Samsung tablets working their way out, Google has achieved some great results, from the phone activations to the billion app downloads. And now, the big Android Market has reached a total of 400,000 apps with 100,000 developers, while the number continues to grow. More »

From Htcyou: Samsung is offering an affordable version of its Galaxy S II flagship, the Galaxy M. It comes with a 4-inch Super AMOLED display instead of Super Clear LCD found on the Galaxy R and it is powered by a single-core 1GHz processor instead of the dual-core Tegra 2. From Ningin: We’re currently in the process of replacing our old servers with new ones across our entire network. These new servers are faster than our old ones and can handle more users at once so they also represent a significant upgrade in page loading speed. The process of doing this is somewhat complicated and will require multiple maintenance windows and thus multiple periods where our sites will be down. The first such window is coming up at 1am - 4am EST (11pm - 2pm PST). The second one is Saturday morning 10am - 1pm EST (6am - 9am PST). In both cases, the total downtime should be about 30mins - 2 hours depending on whether any complexities arises. There are more upgrades beyond the two mentioned, but they shouldn’t result in any downtime or lag. We’re sorry for any inconvenience and we will do everything we can to minimize the downtime. From Htcyou: Google has recently banned the Siri knockoff app from the Android Market, along with its developer. Perhaps misled by the name “Siri for Android,” at least a thousand Android users managed to install the app prior to the ban, but unfortunately the app isn’t even close to iPhone’s Siri. More »

From Htcyou: Samsung has recently unveiled the specs of its latest phone, the Galaxy Ace Plus. Being a successor to the original Galaxy Ace, it comes with features that are probably not enough for some hardcore users but good enough for those who just want to try out coming into the Android world.
