Today, Apple filed a massive copyright infringement lawsuit against rival smartphone manufacturer HTC and has requested that all HTC phones be pulled from sale in America. In its suit, Apple has cited almost every model that HTC makes. More »

From Htcyou: The programming geniuses over at OpenEclair have come a long way since the first version of its open source Eclair 2.1 ROM was released on January 28th. Now in build 1.2.2, OpenEclair is generally regarded as the best, fastest (and certainly the most promising) Android 2.1 ROM for the HTC Magic and Dream (myTouch 3G and G1 respectively). Check out the videos below to see how well the ROM runs on a Dream (G1). More »

From Htcyou: At one time, Dell’s Mini 5 was thought to be just another tablet netbook, but last week, it was confirmed to be the world’s largest smartphone. With a 5 inch LCD, the Mini 5 is rumored to be a T-Mobile and an AT&T;Android 2.0 (or 2.1 or above) phone that - all options included - could sell for upwards of $1,000. More »

From Htcyou: Most have been waiting for this updated myTouch from T-Mobile, now featuring a much needed 3.5mm standard headphone jack, more RAM, and an 8Gb microSD card, but the price is still fairly high at $149.99 with a 2-year contract. At this point, why would anyone not just spring the extra $29 and get a Nexus One with a new contract? More »

From Htcyou: Androidspin claims that “a reliable source…who works for T-Mobile” has informed Nicolas that HTC’s high-end Bravo is headed to the carrier for a possible price of $199 with a 2-year contract. More »

From Htcyou: T-Mobile G1 owners might soon be able to retire their aging smartphone. Droid Developer claims to have real pictures of HTC’s soon to be released myTouch2 or myTouch Slide. More »

From Htcyou: Hindsight has a way of embarrassing analysts. Take Doug Anmuth (Barclay Capital) who predicted that Google would “move 5 to 6 MILLION Nexus One Handsets in 2010.” Despite the Nexus One’s inability to capture the consumers’ hearts, Google’s first smartphone is still one of the most important in Android history even though it is not an “iPhone killer.” More »

From Htcyou: All of these exploits are courtesy of hobbyist hackers who seemingly care more about their smartphones than the carriers that sell them. A few days ago, Cyanogen released his ROM for the newly rooted Nexus One, adding multi-touch to Browser. Although no other application works with multi-touch yet, Cyanogen vows to implement the highly coveted feature to the rest of Android. Also, HTC Magic (myTouch 3G) and Dream (G1) owners might be happy to know that their phones can currently run hacked versions of Android 2.1 thanks to Manup456, whose Eclair ROM installs on the aforementioned models and functions nearly flawlessly. No matter what the current situation, it seems that world disasters seem to bring the best out of everyone. Despite the economic slump, companies from all over are doing their part in ensuring that aid and communication can be established as smoothly and as quickly as possible. More »

It seems that the hyped up Google Nexus One smartphone that was recently released is not receiving as much love as Google had expected. Customer complaints are starting to roll in about the inconsistent 3G connectivity, issues regarding the touch screen, and the poor customer service to deal with it all. The main root of the customer service issue has to do with the fact that the Nexus One can only be purchased through the Google online store and not at any T-Mobile retail locations. More »

From Htcyou: 20,000…that is how many fans attend most sold out arena concerts, NHL hockey games (in Canada anyway), and NBA matches. 20,000 is also the number of Nexus One smartphones sold in its first week. Because of this unexpectedly low figure, T-Mobile has dropped the upgrade price from $379 to $279 for subscribers with data plans. The few folks who have actually paid the original upgrade amount are being reimbursed $100. More »

From Htcyou: HTC has been one of the fastest growing technology companies over the past three years, yet much of the public in the western world knows little about this Taiwanese firm. As 2010 moves along, HTC’s relative obscurity will be replaced by recognition and acclaim. Formerly just an original design manufacturer (ODM), which supplied handheld devices like PDAs and smartphones to big name clients, HTC officially launched its own branded smartphone in 2006 with the Blackberry-like Excalibur. In 2007, HTC released its preemptive counter to the iPhone, the Touch (Windows Mobile 6), which was generally criticized for its poor TouchFLO UI, mediocre screen, and lack of 3G. Years later, after significant maturity, together with Google and its Android operating system, HTC is preparing to compete against the established smartphone hierarchy in North America. More »

On Tuesday, search engine behemoth Google officially demonstrated its Nexus One smartphone, which is being hyped as the iPhone killer. Although some of the released details, including the actual look of the unit itself, has been known for sometime, here is a round up of Google’s announcement: More »
