It is estimated that up to about 10% of the population cannot see the so-called 3D images that companies have been boasting about at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. CNN correspondent Rafe Needleman investigated the matter, asking about the relatively large population of viewers that would not be able to view the 3D technology. Needleman notes that oddly, “none of the HDTV manufacturing companies I reached out to could provide a direct comment on this topic” (CNN.com). More »

As cool and stylish as Sony may make these 3D glasses look, there is a predetermined limit to how slick you can actually look while donning any sort of “hardware” on your face. The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is truly a haven for the latest, greatest, and hottest trends in technology. The South Korean based company, LG, introduced its latest installment to its flat-screen television line. Measuring in at a little thicker than a poster board, the new LG flat-screen is a third of the width of the previously marketed 23.3 mm model. Although still not beating the Sony 9.9mm flat-screen, LG emphasizes that this TV will sport such new technology as internet connectivity, which follows the new trend that calls for “connected” or “smart” televisions. This particular LG model is expected to be released late 2010.

I am still trying to decide whether that box that it’s being stood up on is actually part of the console or not. My guess is probably not. I would imagine that wall space is limited at CES. If it is, in fact, part of the console, then I predict that LG is going to see very little consumer interest in this product. I mean, who wants a super flat TV mounted on a chunky box? I sure don’t.

Remember when you were a kid, and you dreamed that a day with 3D television and video games would come? Well, the future is now, because this week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is filled with 3D televisions from such big companies as Sony, Samsung, LG, and Panasonic. Of course, no longer are the days of the awkward red and blue glasses; this “new” type of 3D utilizes a new type of technology. More »

This weekend’s news of Tiger Woods getting into a car accident, Allen Iverson retiring (for the moment) and the shooting of four Police Officers in Washington State, were sent to me in the form of Twitter Tweets and text messages. While I did watch TV, it wasn’t breaking news or anything of that nature, to the TV stations showing holiday programming and football.

With all three news reports, I was somewhat shocked and instantly found myself grabbing my laptop to read about it in details. More »
