From Htcyou: Telus has given its customers in Canada some good news. It seems like the Canadian phone carrier will have the HTC ChaCha on its network, as can be see in the picture above. Unfortunately, Telus hasn’t revealed how much or when the phone will be available. Rumors point to a mid-August launch, perhaps as part of the back-to-school events that will be taking place. Canadian Telus have announced that they will be starting to unlock many devices for a price on February 15th. However, to be eligible for this scheme, you have to be an active post-paid user that has been with Telus for at least 90 days. More »

On July 30th, when Apple releases the iPhone 4 in more than a dozen other countries, Canada will get its at $659 CDN unlocked and $779 for the 32Gb model. Apple already offers the iPhone unlocked in many nations, where GSM/HSPA is the norm. More »

From Htcyou: An internal inventory screen capture of the HTC Desire for Telus Canada suggests that it will cost $79.99 with 3-year contract. By comparison, Telus’ other Android offerings are the Motorola Backflip at the same price and the Droid/Milestone for $149.99. More »

Telus has long be tipped to be the Canadian carrier for the HTC Desire, but it will not be called the “Triumph.” The Desire has HSPA 850/1900 bands and interestingly, will sport a Sony Super LCD instead of AMOLED. More »

Since AT&T has its exclusionary claws on Apple’s iPhone 4, Americans cannot use the device with other carriers, but the situation is drastically different in Canada, the UK, and continental Europe, where most GSM/WCDMA networks carry the smartphone. From Htcyou: Telus and Motorola have stepped up and fulfilled their promise quickly. The Milestone/Droid Android 2.1 download can now be obtained online, although the update is not over-the-air. Maybe other Canadian Android smartphones will soon follow suit and get with the program. More »
