A futuristic car concept has just been created, Toyota Fun-Vii. The car is described as “a smartphone on four-wheels”. The car design is basically a regular car with touchscreen functions for the door. It was designed to allow people to have fun before and after driving. More »

Because of this availability, 10 companies have banded together in a joint project to install 10,000 electric chargers at vending machines by the end of the year. This is similar to Toyota’s partnership with FamilyMart, a chain of convenience stores. Toyota and Microsoft are joining forces to bring you the latest and greatest in cars: a cloud-based vehicle platform. The companies wish to build “a global platform for Toyota’s next-generation telematics services using the Windows Azure cloud computing platform.” (Telematics means integration of information technology into vehicles and the like.) Toyota Prius V, which was unveiled in Detroit in January, will reportedly hit Japanese showrooms next month and it will be priced at ¥3 million (about $37,000). The Japanese Prius V will get fancy Li-ion batteries in the floor, which leaves room for a third row of seats. The US version, however, will get a bigger set of cells like the in the current Prius, which is a nickel metal hydride pack. This means the US version won’t have those seats in the back. More »
