President Obamaa promised change while on the campaign trail and he certainly has brought a lot of it during his first year of presidency. The President recognizes that the internet and technology are valuable tools that have limitless possibilities to connect him with the rest of the nation. A new product from Mattel called “Puppy Tweets” allows your dog to (surprise, surprise) tweet. The plastic device connects to your computer via USB. You then have to create a Twitter account for your dog. After that is accomplished, all you need to do is clip the device to your dog’s collar and the device will update Sparky’s Twitter account using various preset Tweets. The device can detect motion and sound and will update the account according to what your dog is doing. Seems like a useful gadget to have, right? I mean, who DOESN’T have a Twitter account for his/her dog? More »

When it comes to social networking sites, I have to admit that I am kind of e-slutty and all over the place. Myspace, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter…you name it and I am pretty much all over it. Since I’m all over the place when it comes to social networking sites, it’s really easy to become so disorganized when it comes to logging into these sites, reading updates, commenting, messaging and friending. It’s all very daunting to even think about. Despite this, my resolution for this year is to be more organized and on top of things in the world of social networking sites. More »

As if Twitter wasn’t popular enough, now it’s reaching a whole new crowd of people, Toddlers. That’s right folks, toddlers. Why they would need a social networking site at this age is beyond me but I guess some parents think it’s necessary. This social networking device is called a Twoddler and allows toddlers to view pictures and messages while the parents are away, so the toddler doesn’t miss them too much. More »

Japan’s Twitter is putting a little twist on how they operate, adding Premium accounts and micro payments. Starting next January, Twitter Japan will allow users to purchase Premium accounts, which then can be accessed by other users who pay a small fee to view these tweets and guess what? Twitter will be pocketing almost 30% of the profits. This isn’t very surprising, since Twitter has no ads on their site, so this is a way for them to make some money while picking up new users. “What’s Gmail?”

That was the question that someone at the gym asked me last week. Being around so much technology and gadgets, I found the question extremely odd. Who didn’t know about Gmail? I explained what Gmail was to the person, a lady in her 30’s. Afterward, it got me thinking, if something as popular as Gmail is not known to people who are still relatively young, then what other advancement in tech don’t people know about. And we’re not talking about really old people, we’re talking about educated, folks in their twenties and 30’s. So, to make this a little more interesting, I went around and asked a few people at a bar I went with a few friends this past week. I asked 20 people about Gmail, Twitter, Facebook, Digg, iPhone and Android. Here are the results. More »
