From Htcyou: A e-mail alleged to be from HTC has some titillating details about the much discussed Droid Incredible. HTC might be prepared to release a major upgrade to the Incredible that includes Android 2.2 FroYo and a slew of fixes and other updates. The race amongst Android smartphone makers for 2.2 has begun in earnest. More »

From Htcyou: Most of you could care less what South Koreans are getting, but many North Americans will buy some version of the Samsung Galaxy S, which is hitting every carrier under the sky. An early August FroYo update for the Korean Galaxy S should mean that its carbon copies worldwide will receive the same treatment shortly thereafter. More »

Slowly but surely, solid-state-drives are making their entrance into mainstream acceptance. For sometime, higher-end laptops from Apple, Sony, HP, etc. have offered optional SSD hard disks as replacements for mechanical drives, which, due to moving parts, are significantly slower than solid-state storage for random and sequential reading (as well as random writing) speed. More consumers are taking notice of SSD because their benefits are readily apparent: much faster operating system and application boot up times and quicker general response from computers. Unfortunately, the biggest hurdle of SSD (in addition to first generation drives that had terrible Jmicron controllers) has remained its small capacity and high price. While drives are becoming more affordable and bigger, 60-64Gb disks are still in the $150+ range. People like myself have waited for the ideal solution, and with Corsair’s budget Nova series, I think that I have found it. More »

Regularly $100, the budget 32Gb Nova solid-state-drive from Corsair is $69.99 for a limited spell after a $20 mail-in rebate. After years of putting it off, I am finally going to get an SSD as my main OS X drive, the Corsair Nova, which has the benefit of TRIM support right out of the box. More »

However, as with the 13″ MacBook Pro, the new unibody Mac Mini retains Intel’s last generation Core 2 Duo Penryn chipset. The biggest draws are the upgraded NVIDIA 320M graphics and HDMI, which is long, long, long overdue on the Mini since many people use it as a multimedia hub or even as an HTPC. Apple can get away with excluding the port on its Macs, but the Mini deserves it. More »
